After selling my 6’8 waterskate, i’ve been missing a board that paddles really well into high tide point wave that I can duck dive if I get caught inside. My 7’7 single is a bit too much board to duck dive well.
The 7’2 would be a nice option that I reckon will go well on the beachie when it gets to 3ft and the point at high tide 2-3ft.

Would be a good option to take to PNG for places like Nago left.

I'm the worlds worst duck diver and after my knee injury the thought of putting that knee into the deck gives me chills but I've started using the other leg and so far it's not actually too bad. I'm 90kg and my jd is only 2 1/2 thick though, all the other mids I've had were thicker with much beefier rails

So I got my hands on a new 7’2 seaxe for 600 bills
Took it for a paddle at the beachie In 1.5ft on shore junk near the flags.
Put an 8” alkali Pcc fin in it.
Paddles as well as my 7’7. I reckon the epoxy core played a big part here. There’s some waves coming for Sunday.
Pretty excited to get it out to my local point at high tide.

Also if anyone has a 6-7” centre fin laying around let me know.
I’ve got a set of medium performers neo glass in new condition that we can swap.
Or would swap the performers for a large futures quad set.

Friend of mine has a seaaxe, seems like a great board. Can’t believe how light it is though. She is a 66yr old who only started surfing 6 years ago, so that’s good for her ....

But I’ve had a short (2 wave) surf on it and, based on that extensive experience (!) have recommended it to a few people looking for a slightly performance midlength. Should be a lot of fun

Had a session at north cronulla yesterday. Very busy 2ft max on the sets. The 8” single is perfect for it.
Going to get a 2+1 set up.

Thinking about the shapers 6” 2+1 set up. Not bag value at $150.

If was super crowded... haven’t had a collision in a while. Had 2 yesterday. Nose chipped on my new board. Not sure if it was from a collision or whether my leg rope pulled down on the rail after I wiped out. I wasn’t happy.

Feels like a great board though. Got a feeling my 6’8 PCC single fin has an uncertain position in my quiver as a result.

Tip
Go to the shapers website Put the Fins in your shopping basket. And leave them there
You get an email offering 5-10% discount a few days later
Realsurf!
Where the bargains are real.

Good tip. 8)

Ended up getting a second hand 7” fcs pivot fin. Use it with some quad rears for sidebites.
8” alk single fin was nice too.

Loving the 7’2 seaxe. Wish i’d found something like this year ago. Would’ve saved me thousands. Not using much else at the moment. Have most of my boards on sale on the gumtree.

Love it when you've got one of those boards hey, just works in lots of waves. Which boards? Slowly working on Mrs beerfan about a complimentary board for my jd in average to good beachies. Shes caving slowly 😉

The plan is to give it a few more weeks, then if she hasn't agreed bury her in the sand dunes.

I put a post in the quiver thread. They’re all on the bumtree and fleabay. You’ll find them.

Mate I reckon you’d be mad not to look at the seaxe range. The 7’2 is so versatile. Seriously, if i was going to PNG tomorrow for a trip and could only take one board that would be it.

Well ironically the jd is my fave board. Ironic because I surf so little and it's the thinnest, narrowest, with the least rail volume and most rockered. Such a good board, though it does need a bit of juice, and 7'4" can feel long in smaller waves so I was thinking of a smaller hybrid. Its hard though, stock hybrids for 75kg look balanced but stock hybrids for 90kg weekend warriors are ginormous. Mollusc robo looks clean and functional with being too thick and blobby.

Gotta sell some boards first. God I hate that process haha

She's pretty much accepted it though :)
