Seen the odd McCoy shapes by Greg Pautsch

There's been a nasty debate on Swaylocks. Apparently Geoff McCoy gave a company permission to shape McCoy shapes in the US and then denied doing so. I think it was cool for a while then went pear shaped. Greg Pautsch was the shaper, not sure if he was the owner/distributor in the US.

Anyway ended up with McCoy making a statement on Swaylocks and some dude who owned the US business jumping on and saying "speak to my lawyer"

i was involved in that debate - i had larry allison (fin shaper) try and light me up. My question was simple: if Geoff had nothing to do with the American Mccoy's since the late '80s and invented the nugget in mid '90s - how could Pautsch be shaping nuggets? It also got ugly when Mark (the former owner of the mccoy shop out of Manly) got on the forum and tried to discuss boards - specifically the astron zot. The american dealer of McCoy boards accused him of trying to use the forum for sales...
It all came to light with that letter - and i've never been back over there. I'll also never buy a fin from that douche Larry.

Thsnks CTD. Wondering why a Darren Rogers would be different to McCoy. Surely it wouldn't go down well with the supreme

from all accounts - thinner and more refined.

I followed that discussion Batoes. Marc is a good guy, think he's at Scott's Head now. But it was a hum dinger.

It pretty much ended with the rebuke to Geoff McCoy re: speak to my lawyer

I think the guy who was involved runs Revolution Surfboards and MAY now be associated with Horan. McCoys are a hotbed of controversy and intrigue.

Honestly, ya gotta love the McCoy trainwrecks.

Its always such a short time between the start of a McCoy thread and the inevitable collision of personalities.

Yeah - it happened a few times over there. One of the best posts was a guy who uploaded a picture of McDowell's Restaurant in reference to American made McCoy's. I thought that summed it up nicely.

When i realised how crazy people got over them (and i did receive some really crazy pm's). I just decided to ride them and no longer post on the matter. Then i stopped riding them.

And yeah - Marc was a legend. Bloody good surfer too. You want to see some pics of him surfing well on McCoys - he ripped them. He had a few on his instagram.

I'm drawn to the flame. I said 12 years ago to a mate that McCoys are in my future. Don't know how, why or when. I just know.

They're worth trying - just a different feel. That bottom really does find a great line in barreling waves.

As said the Rodgers ones are reputed to be more 'refined'. Its a bit hard to get stock figures on the real McCoys but the all round nugget at 6'10 seems to be 6’10 x 21 1/2 x 3. My rogers one is 6'10 x 21 1/4 x 3 1/16. So its very slightly narrower and very slightly thicker, but I've never compared the foil

The outline is a bit different. The rogers one is probably closer to an interchange nugget that the all round nugget. Have to say that the Rogers nugget is not exactly a thing of beauty

Man, those rails on the tsa DVS boards are insanely thick. You'd need a 5'4" haha. Didn't you have one?

I had a wasp but was too big. Rode it once and dropped 100 bucks. Also had an elongated wasp much more refined but again it was a little too big. So flogged it

Yeh maybe a 5'8
