yep. there's no substitute for a longer rail line and the projection you get out it.

I had a look on the gumtree for eggs today and a tasty looking beach beat 6'6 in Caloundra came up for $495.
Got me thinking again....
So I dropped the 6'8 Waterskate off at PCC to have a fin box put in.
They're going to take the wax off it for me so it'll feel like I'm getting a newy.
It's the little things.

Board is 6'8 x 21 x 2 3/4. Will stick an 8" Alkali and some GS sized side bites to start with and go from there.

I like. A hi performance mini mal (hello Steve ), which makes it a lot more versatile for a range of conditions than some flattened out hipster mid length.

I hadn't seen the red dingo before, thanks something else for me to obsess about!!!

Tell me about it. Rented a small wave hybrid the last few days, 5'10". Floated me fine, and I caught waves no problem though the lack of surfing the last few years really showed lol, confirming the need for a nice midlength. My 7'0" is a little too flat and my 7'4" is rockered and needs a proper wave so I need something in between. Just have to bite the bullet and do a quiver cull.

Goddard looking good, so is the red dingo.

Which Goddard are u looking at beery? Haven't seen any in the flesh but his website has some nice shapes.

Abracadabra, the flashpoint narrow, flashpoint wide, V8, or silkpin. All look sweet as. I like how they have curve in the front half, wide enough but not super parallel in the nose. I've had mid lengths before with wide noses, but they've had curve in the front half. Best of both worlds, enough width that you can trim from up front, but with the outline curve, can handle a decent steep take off.

The parallel paddle pop style noses I can't deal with. Great for fat waves but awkward in a steeper wave. My lack of skill has nothing to do with it though haha

I've ridden a few hulls and had a vbowls, which was super flat - and you are right. Unless you got a really nice point wave, it can be hard work. That said, when the stars align and you get a nice long beachie, they can be fun. I recently got a gato heroi space pig, which i thought would be far more hipster etc than it is, but is has really good rails, rockered out, and for it's length, 7'6, can jam a hard turn. Will be fun to test its limits out in some bigger waves.

I was reading a spiel on Gerry Lopezs site about surfboards. He reckoned you should ride the biggest board you can still do what you want on. A bit contrary to the standard view these days.

I read that as well beany, makes a lot of sense.

I spent the last half hour going through MC's website, the Shiva looks fun, could be even more fun as a midlength!

Re: the gato space pig, I love surfing Kirra & the piggy loves Kira as well, all I ride there now
