First Mini Mal I had was a second hand Pipedream that Brett Munroe Shaped. Great board.
Tail rocker in my Carver is what I miss from every other midlength I've ridden. The feeling on take off and how easily it handles any drop really well.

I love the look of that board... I must admit I'd love the option of riding it as a single though. I know there's more to life, I just can't help myself.

If or when a fin cracks out again next I will get all the fins knocked off and get a single fin box (plus plugs for side bites) installed. Then surf it either as a single with a 9 inch fin, or as a 2+1 with a 6.5 inch centre.

Still goes great as a tri fin (not that I surf it like a thruster) but as either a single 9" or 2+1 it'll probably give it more size range (surety in bigger than 5 foot surf)

Nice Hatchy, hope u colour coordinate your boardies appropriately tho.

You re right, it's Momentum whilst hooking through steep sections that allows a good midlength to open up whilst the rider remains relaxed. The surf industry is busily peddling go as short & light as possible, but really a bit of weight not too much, brings a beautiful balanced feel & going a bit longer whilst still being able to turn, helps to catch more waves, longer rides= more fun.... even if you re on a McCoy surftech.......just kidding

Dropped the two Zots off this morning to have plugs for quad fins glassed on.

That's why I'm thinking of putting a single in my waterskate. It's had a few repairs over the years, so it's not as light as it was when first shaped. Instead of getting a new board shaped and committing this one to landfill, i thought it would be a better approach to give it a facelift.

As for the mccoy's.... <:

Thought 2+1 when I looked at that board.

1350 now. I have a 2+1 I got new from him for 700 about 6 or 7 years ago.

Rasta still made it look pretty awesome even though it was potentially to big for him. And my god it looked fun!!

Do you know how wide the nose is? Surf blanks have a machine shape 7'6" that is same centre width, but the nose is nearly 18". I had a 7'6" with a 16 1/2" nose, was wide enough to get through a dead section but never caught on take off or got in the way. The surf blanks has decent nose rocker though, 5".

My 7'0" has a wide nose but it's quite flat rocker wise, so if it's even a little steep it starts to become an issue

I've got 2 sets of Stretch quads, might as well use them.

But anything around an FCS M5 at the front and GQ for the rears is OK. Sometimes I like the feel of double foiled in the rear.

I'm still impressed by the McCoy Gullwing single, but it's brilliance at one moment is balanced by its unpredictability at the next. Plus I can't seem to get it to accelerate quickly enough in the first, and critical, 10' of the wave, nor get a rhythm for turns in a lot of situations

@BF. Nose is 17". No idea where the blank is from. As it's an NZ west coast shape circa early 2000s. ((Still going strong, glassed super tough))
