Are the v bowls tricky to surf with those foiled rails??

I don't ride it in big surf - generally for smaller lined up stuff. Usually takes me three-waves or so to get used to the length and feel, but to answer your question -no. I don't think it's a difficult board to ride. I have heard others complain they are fairly hullish etc but i've found it really responsive and fun. I have a huge 11 inch alkali flex fin in it and that is the goods. Didn't like the vbowls fin - lacked drive.

Unlike a hull, the V-Bowls has a hard edge in the tail - best of both worlds. Easy to ride, difficult to master, but a load of fun in the right conditions.

8'2 - it's a sherbert, a bigger version of the V-Bowls with a squarer nose. This is it here:
It takes a few waves to get used to it cos the deck is dead flat, but it taught me to appreciate rails. I got it second hand. It came with a Greenough 4C fin which was loooooose. Got on a 4A and found it a lot more stable.

The 4a is 9". Works well. I now have an alkali Lovelace in there - 8.5". To be honest I can't tell much of a difference between the 2. Not like the difference between a 4a and 4c.

Saw an XF webber diamond at the beach this morning. Felt good under the arm, lots of volume in the 6'8. The owner was late 50's - more than competent, fit the bill perfectly. He was stoked with the board. He was running a regular thruster set up.
Best part was that he picked it up for $499 at Toukley Beach'n'surf. He reckoned there was a 6'6 and 6'10 in store too.

Ridden for a few waves three times. Pics are pre-surf and has wax on it now but is still
Beautiful. So in condition that reflects its lack of use. Comes with Sea brand fin in Jim Pollard template (pictured in the board). I also have a new Alkali 7.25 classic single fin in black for $100.
Have to pay off credit card after spontaneous motorcycle upgrade so a few boards are going.
7' x 20 (if memory serves) x 2&7/8" It's shaped by AB's protege Dale Wilson and is a 81 pipe masters model.
People stop me to talk about it when its been under my arm or out in the water its a special board thats for sure.
$650. It's at Beachbeat Alex hdlds.

Yeah, I couldn't sell it myself. Makes me feel guilty holding onto some of my old dogs.
