Don't forget to partially mix in half a dozen tints in the resin to make one of those marvellous marbled creations!

Like this one....phaaaw.Beerfan wrote:Yeah, you'd think he'd splash out. Outerislands makes some nice looking midlengths Steve. They look like they'd handle decent waves too, all pulled in noses, tails and tri fin setups.

Yep, exactly like that, maybe smaller. Doing a quiver cull at the moment. Longboard doesn't get ridden after getting the new JD mal replacement, current midlength too gunny, need something like that in low 7' as a decent head high + board. Wife would kill me if I mention another JD, so might have to settle for 2nd hand, and base my next JD off that when it dies or I get the cash haha.
I reckon they'd go very well for where Steve surfs.

Ah, step into my office sir.
My Diverse GM is up for grabs as of today.
Had a chat to the local surfshop confirming I'm buying their van soon so need to scrape up cash from any possible sources.
Any rate excuse the hijack.

Haha, quiver culls are catching!. I might give it a miss mate, josh has totally ruined me for anything that weighs more than a feather!!. I'm leaning towards a tri fin, lighter weight midlength. Hoping I'll only need it for a year or so then I'll get JD to make one , quiver complete!!

I don't want to sell it anyway Mark.
I've gotten as far as taking photos and then can't make myself go anywhere near the keyboard to type up an ad.
If there had been any substantial swell lately I would have been riding it and then there's no way I'd even get as far as taking a photo of it.
Same with my DVS reefrunner that was one of Dick's personal carbon fibre boards.
Talk about light.
"Paddles like a shark" as Steve says.
Btw check out this Mitchell Rae asymmetrical.

Any more thoughts on the ultimate trendy mid-length Steve?
Still going to go tri-plane bottom?

Just get a soft top and stop worrying. If they are good enough for Jamie O at Jaws...

And the average joe surfers of the 90's thought because KS was ripping and winning on his highly rockered slipper they would rip too.
The recent red bull series on you tube showed how that board could humble talented top tier pros.

I don't think soft tops are all that bad a choice for average surfers in average conditions. I'm really glad I started riding my wife's a few years back, it's added something to my surfing

The ratio of ears under to ears out of caps among the pros needs addressing too I think.

Is this the sound of the worm turning ? So u've seen the light hey? Welcome to the clubsteve shearer wrote:actually it was a mates OUter Island mini-mal that first got me "hooked" on mid-lengths.
Will keep a watch on this thread. Keen to see how it turns out.
Are u or have u also considered more a thruster-shortboard type mid length, rockered, fine tuned etc (quick to adjust, beach break friendly)?
Or are u more just focused on one that's more glide/longboard oriented for swooping arcs etc out Lennox and the points?

Keramas is such a nice wave. See how the guy on the mal knocked his fin out on the rock shelf?
