1. After Yuke Hunt (2013) noted the McCoy details from the surfresearch.com.au Manufacturers Index, MrMik commented
but surprisingly little about McCoy boards on it.

Not sure what you mean by little, but several McCoy boards are detailed in the Catalogue:
http://www.surfresearch.com.au/00000000.html

These should link from the Index decals and include:
1969 Keyo Egg 5 ft 8 1/2" - shaped by Geoff McCoy
http://www.surfresearch.com.au/00000045.html
1970 McCoy Twin fin I 5 ft 7"
http://www.surfresearch.com.au/00000318.html
Similar to “new” board obtained by MrMik, 2015.
Design History links to A Brief History of the Twin Fin
http://www.surfresearch.com.au/0000h_Twin_Fin.html
1971 McCoy Twin fin I 6 ft 4"
http://www.surfresearch.com.au/00000234.html
1976 McCoy Rounded Pin 6 ft 6"
http://www.surfresearch.com.au/00000025.html
1976 McCoy Reno Abelliro (sic, Abellira) Model 7 ft 2"
http://www.surfresearch.com.au/00000210.html
1980 McCoy Lazor Zap 5 ft 6"
http://www.surfresearch.com.au/00000112.html
2000 McCoy Nugget 6 ft 11 1/2"
http://www.surfresearch.com.au/00000167.html
Similar to board held by damo666
2000 McCoy Nugget 7 ft 7 1/4"
http://www.surfresearch.com.au/00000316.html
2003 Surftech : McCoy Nugget 7 ft 2''
http://www.surfresearch.com.au/00000319.html

2. MrMik also commented I like the "fundamental dynamics of surfriding" section
Lot's to think about in there...

http://www.surfresearch.com.au/a_surfbo ... amics.html

I uploaded this several years ago and this is the first indication that anyone has actually read it.
And given Cpt.Caveman’s response, it has been read at least twice.

In commenting on the reports of (some) surfers that inside the tube "time slows down,” the Captain questioned my suggestion that this perception could possibly be related to, or accented by, 2. Visual "tunneling" as predicted by Al Einstein when approaching the speed of light."

Clearly this is poorly expressed and I will think about a re-write; the experience is purely perceptual- with no implication that surfboards
approach the speed of light in the tube.

In fact, surfboards don’t go very fast at all, probably less than 30 knots.

Thank you,
Geoff Cater

that effect comes from your adrenaline squirting into your blood system and its a natural phenomena when you perceive a dangerous situation. people report the same thing during a car accident , its designed to give your brain the most focus in a situation that might be your last. it can also affect your short term memory of the event, some people have very little memory later on after an event. During the event people say time slows and everything happens in slow motion but afterwards they say it all happened in a blur and cant remember a thing.

But I like to think its because Im approaching the speed of light.

What size quads are you using surfy?

my mCquad has Futures, I use the fins that kink out about half way down to increase the cant, 467 Vectors....are the lead fins.Trail fin on toe side is 4n3/8base and 4n1/2 depth(trail fin from a thruster set,M5ish I think)....heel fin is the hatchet that comes with the Vectors 450.All plastic fantastic.

So forehand very drivey to race long walls which I surf most of the time, backhand a very loose pivoty sensation.Symetrical is for Tards! :-D-:

It's odd that there's a US maker who used to have an association with Geoff but doesn't now, but still uses McCoy logos without Geoffs consent. That's what he's saying in that article.
And even more so there are copiers who declare Geoff shaping to be quite average but his designs to be good enough to copy and profit from. They even use Geoffs model names like Pot Belly , Lazor Zap, or Zaps but the origin and inferred connection are clear. Names they want to use fo profit but not pay for.
As Geoff says , what would you do if someone was using your name to make money in the same industry.

I remember you fighting the good fight back on the swaylocks thread that turned into a train wreck. You were hounded by a few loud posters. I don't know the long or short of any agreement with greg pautsch or steve forstall when Geoff was working in the US in the '80s - but i do know he never showed anyone how to make a nugget with the loaded dome, other than rogers (and whoever is shaping his boards now) and i know this because he said it to me over the phone. So i get the lazor zap american thing - they were all there shaping them together - but as for shaping nuggets and astron zots with loaded domes and claiming they have an agreement to do it is dodgy.

https://www.facebook.com/revolutionsurf ... =3&theater

There was a guy that posted over on swaylocks called rocklobster and he made same pretty wild accusations about working/knowing Geoff and it got really weird. I'd love to know who he is - he was a massive knob.

I think it's great Geoff is so old and yet so angry - maintaining the rage seven years on since this: http://www.swaylocks.com/forums/statement-geoff-mccoy

No comment on the American saga.

When he's in this mode he just isn't capable of putting it in such a reasonable manner surffoils . He's antagonistic, alienating and opinionated - somewhat charismatic....some folks lap it up. He's definitely a character!

He does leave a gap in the market though when he refuses to consider certain designs. Quads are a classic example, or even the lexcen fin. One of the designs Darren Rogers worked on is specifically for that fin which from memory Horan hand a helping hand in.

Someone's gonna fill that gap!

Apparently there is a 'matt Tatum' who is authorised to shape mccoys (or iaw his designs)

Ive seen a few places with 'nuggets'; which seems to have become a generic name for thst shape. Guess it's a kind of homage

Yeah i see - http://www.fortytoes.com/

They seem to do some of the surfboard agency boards in the states. Interesting. So i wonder if that's who Geoff is pissed at?

I think some US guys 'had' an agreement with Geoff but when it finished they decided to keep using his name , his ideas, and his future ideas. Yes that Sways tussle did change a few things because the US guys stopped directly using Geoffs design names. Even if you don't have legally protected your IP you can still sue based on prior use. If you're commercially naming your boards XXX and someone copies it with complete understanding that you have prior use and built a business on those names, then things could get nasty in court with commercially sized damages payouts. Plus it's just pissy to rip someone off and not pay them anything because it suits you to turn your back on a former friend.
And good on him for being angry, there's enough softcocks around stroking the yoga herbal hipster vegan wiener. Have some balls and stand up for yourself.
Doesn't mean you have to start a Jihad about everything but standing up for what's right and what yours is very Australian and something everyone did before we were convinced to Consume, Be Silent and Die.
Antagonistic prophet or alienating god, Geoff will always be one of the last few who shaped by hand , who created an incredible concept with his own ingenuity and still should be allowed to do what he wants to or nothing at all. He's done enough. Give the bloke some respect already.

The forty toes guy doesnt seem to 'shape' as such (from what I can tell)- he has an AKU machine and takes designs from the original shapers (eg McCoy) and runs them through the machine and presumably glasses etc. I guess the designs can be tweaked - do you contact Mccoy who does your design and sends it over? He doesnt seem like an AKU type of guy.

anyway, this is perfectly fine, after all thats how the big guys (Firewire, CI, Lost etc) do all their boards. Probably a nice way for the smaller guys to get some overseas dollars.

I thought Cheyne had been doing those boards for a long time, that logo I've seen before on similar boards
