Just stepped out of my garden gate and my next door neighbours truck is there with four brand new Brewer single fin pintail guns in the tray: looked like a 7', 7'6, 8' and 8'6.

All full gloss, three red, one yellow, white rails with a black pintail
.
Just for the record, let it be known that I left them all there

when it comes to surfing at your peak- Darrick Doerner laid down the template.\\

Training is the solution.
Nutrition is the key.
Equipment has to be the best you can get.

"Terepai Chalmers Richmond is an Australian drummer. He joined the Sydney-based rock band The Whitlams in September 1999 and formerly played in acid jazz group Directions in Groove."

He charges Shark Island, Cronulla Point and Voodoo.

Oh, cheers.

I hate the Whitlams but that's irrelevant.

That's an insane looking shape.

2+1 = top turn yeh? Just kidding.

I initially spoke with Stuart around having the option for either a 2+1 or single. His basic feedback was that a 2+1 option would be a good idea if the board was 7 foot or bigger, but not 6'4

I was also thinking about channels through the tail section. He said that for a 6'4 board for HH to DOH reefs/points/beach breaks that I shouldn't worry about the channels, and instead keep it as a v-bottom to double concave.

I'd told him that this will be my 4th single fin for the quiver, and that I'm more than comfortable riding singles, which i am - so I think the key perspective he was driving at was simplicity and keeping the board more neutral and single.

For what it's worth, I've tried surfing my 6"10 Rabbidge single fin as a 2+1 and I've found that by-and-far I get the best out of the board as a single (use much more rail, surf more relaxed, preemptive, etc) and can still belt out top turns easily, forehand and backhand. I keep the fin further forward to keep things more loose and lively.

I used to love watching Terepai charge the island. Fearless.

i still haven't surfed the island. i'd love to (probably starting out on a 2-3 foot day) but the idea of contending with 20 boogers and scores of core locals who already have the placed dialed in doesn't really appeal to me. reckon if lived there it'd be a different story.

I haven't surfed it in twenty years. There was a time when you could get it pretty good with twenty out - and only ten were catching waves, the rest were watching. I always enjoyed the lefts when it got busy. Much more mellow, with a nice little barrel section on the outer reef.

yeah, slabs are all well and dandy as long as all you need to concentrate on is the wave itself and your own ability to tackle it. as soon as i'm having to contend with crowds climbing all over each other inching deeper and deeper then - then the head noise and danger outweighs the buzz of it all.

I asked Stuart to put some in mine and he rolled his eye's.... mumbled something about having to make the Fkn tail wider, then said surf it first and he'll put them in for me later if i still wanted them. Haven't bothered.

I have the exact issue with the point let alone the freaking Island.
