If anybody is interested there is a brand spanking new 6'3 X 19.5 swallow tail twin fin sitting in coolangatta antiques for $400.
It's shaped by ralph riddell, a local shaper and all round funny bloke. It's got a dark green tint, glass on MR style fins and a polished finish. It's pretty thick and glassed heavy so it'd be good for paddling and long point style waves.

I don't know why it's there, it hasn't even been waxed, literally brand new. $400 is a steal for a locally handmade board. It's too big and thick for what I would want in a twin, suit older or larger surfer.

it was there yesterday arvo, dunno how long it'll last.

pretty thick on the stringer, easy over 2 and half, probably closer to 3. it's heavily glassed, real 70s feel to it, at first i thought it was a single fin cos that's what it looks like. which woulda been perfect.

not like a steve lis or even an MR performance twin though, looks like a cruisy board.

Looking to buy a flex fin for that 6'0 single fin egg I've got with the deep concaves.

The fin I've got for it is ok, but it'd be fun to have a bit more of that rubber band feel that a good flex fin is meant to provide.

Was thinking of this... in probably the 8inch

Any other suggestions?

Have a look at the salty merchants nine inch matte black.
I've got one in my blue board.
Or the lady violet aura in 8.5 inch. Less rake so a bit better on the beach break
Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.

ended up taking their advice, which was what i flooked/figured in the first place

Subject: Flex fin for single fin egg 6'0 ?
Hello ...
Wanting to buy a flex fin for a 6'0 x 20 x 2 9/16 single fin egg (see attached)
After some advice on what would best suit?
I'm 85kg, 30 yrs surfing experience, power-oriented (push hard through turns)
Will be surfing the board in waves waist high to a little overhead, beach breaks, points, and reefs on east coast Australia.
Was thinking the L-Flex in 8'0 but totally open to suggestions.

Hey ...
Sweet board!
Actually you nailed what I would suggest. For a 6ft egg like yours I would go for an 8” L-flex. I would also say a Skip fry is a good fin choice but the 8.5” might be a little big and the 7.5” might be a tad too small.
Stick with the 8” L-flex and you should be great.

Looks sweet. I've ridden a 6'2 single with a 7.5 Albacore. Went well

I've got an albacore flex 7.5 (plus small side bites) in the rabbidge 6'10 and it feels great. You can feel the flex coming off the bottom out of the trough. Gives it a spring load feel

Just bought a RFC Rusty 7 inch flex fin for my bonzer bumblebee. Have struggled to really nail the fin - so i thought i'd try something different.

I ve spent that last couple of months making the best of the SE QLD spring conditions on a 6"9 single fin & a 5"6 MLV bonzer 3 fin. .... it's actually been a lot of fun. I ve really enjoyed picking the right line & feeling the speed run.

I also picked up a mote 5"11 MP cutback board off gummie which was an unwanted prize & only ridden once. I have only ridden it a handful of times because of the dire lack of swell but I am looking forward to an extended run of swell so that I can give it a good run. When I have ridden it I have really enjoyed it, fewer turns than a multi finned board but the turns feel way better. I guess it's because they are full turns coming off a high line speed run as opposed to lots of wiggles or half turns. Feels cleaner and hopefully good for my surfing. Simon jones sure does make a beautiful board.

Without fail the older crew stop to chat about these boards & surfing Burleigh or Kirra back in the day which is cool
