Sorry, Trev. I actually thought it a bit unusual for Roy to be posting a link like that from NZ.

As for keeping my old MP unfortunately it was hammered to death in an appropriate fashion.
I had a couple of other MP boards over the years including a sort of backyard one that had Harry Bolt alias Michael Peterson written on it in pencil and nothing else. Got that one off the previous owner. The one I really should have kept was the last one I owned. It was one of the last boards he shaped. A radical stinger with deep channels through the front and little side fins at the end of the channels just before the stinger bit. A 5'10" squaretail with a great colour glass job. Shaped for Freelance at Fingal in the old picture theatre which is where Daryn Von Weirdo used to ply his trade a bit later on. MP was laying low around those parts at the time. I think he paddled out to Cook Island to camp at one stage. Great little board I actually kept for quite a while. It had MPs classic diamond shape nose. Guess it would be quite a rarity these days.

Yep. Funny I was keen to get a San Juan over at Byron but my old man wouldn't hear about it because they had recently been busted for pot I think he liked Joe's no BS style as seen in his ads of the time. So while I'd love to say I was right into the superior characteristics of the boards it was just how it panned out.

No it's somewhat south of Kirra.
We slept in the car in the car park (1967) and that was what was waiting for us in the morning. A cyclone had followed us south into NSW with major flooding around Kempsey and a flooded road to Crescent Head but the most awesome waves ever. Spent some time on the Central Coast and in Sydney. This was on the way home. Nice clean lines from outside this little rock outcrop, right into the bay.

It would have been unreal to have surfed Byron in '67 on that board of yours in a cyclone swell. Doesn't look too crowded.
