The GST! - Gut Sliding Turtle!

Post by Cuttlefish » Fri Aug 19, 2011 5:23 pm

Yes, Real surfers there's a new board design on the way.
I've dubbed it the "Turtle" only because there's too many boards called "Cuttlefish" out there already.
It will be short.....very short.....and wide....very wide.
It will fit in the boot of the car....just about any car.
It will be PU and more than likely a twin fin with FCS plugs.
Bugger mini-simmons though...it ain't one of them.
Not that there's anything wrong with them.
It's going to be from a genre were traditionally pretty much anything goes.
A build thread will document it's progress from conception to when the egg hatches and the little fella flippers his way into the waves.
Can't wait hey!

My input will be in the form of concepts, ideas, opinions, ravings and far fetched silliness and I'll leave the shaping to those who are far more dextrous than me using power tools.

if it looks and sounds like a turtle - then perhaps, just perhaps - it is a turtle, well at least its shell

It'll look like a turtle but the "GST" should be a tube riding machine!

Can't wait to see it either. I nearly made a bellyboard thingy, but chopped it up for spare foam. I reckon they'd be fun in summer junk you can't surf

Man, you blew it.
There's a niche right there.
South coast hipsters...might have to send out a search party to find them though.
Just because I'll paddle it prone doesn't mean that's the way I'll end up riding it though
Cool thing is the GST should fit in the boot of the camry.
Shaping has now been set back to early next week due to blank supply chain hiccup.
However it should be glassed by the end of the first week in September.

Are you test driving this Cuttles?! I want to see someone give Chris Del Moro a run for his money after his Bing Speed Square antics. I think the boys at rake have a small wave sled happening too: http://www.rakefoamshapes.com/index.php ... smic-slab/

I wonder what the limit is in length!?

That board does deserve the monniker "slab".
Round off a blank, glass it and whack some keels on it...bingo!
Hope it's priced accordingly.
Won't be anyone shooting footage of this little black duck.
Unless its for Funniest home videos daily edition.
I'm paying for this vision (re-vision) to become a reality.
No test riding.
Del Moro and Reynolds have surely pushed the limits of what you can stand up on (consistently) with their sub 4' boards.
Don't think they'll ever become too popular.
Unless we all end up surfing in water parks.

what came first, the mini-simmons or the kneeboard ? not that it matters, not really reinventing, think its just tweaking and modifying anything and everything we can to create different and fun boards....I been doing some whacky and wonderful stuff today too..... :) 8)

The turtle has hatched....just making it's way to the beach via the artistes gallery for some colour work and a detour to the glassers before hitting the beach.
Photos will be coming...

Now I can see why you call it the "Turtle".

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.
