Morning Star

Post by Chillin » Sun Feb 07, 2010 4:53 pm

This pic was taken by my girlfriend (now wife) in 1976. The board is a morning star which i'd just bought from another aprentice at work. Notice there is no waves, thats because i couldn't surf and i was just having a go at learning. I owned that board for 1 month. The bloke who lived next door borrowed it to have a go and it got burned down with his shed that night.

I drove 51/2 hours to Mudgee to pick the sucker up, don't ask me why. I think i'm more sentimental than i though i was.

Nice country town, lots of money out there due to the Ulan coal mine being 30km away. All the 'P' platers drive HSV utes or big forbys. Some nice winerys too. Nice place, farken long way for a dawn sesh though.

Nice drive to Mudgee and on as far as Gulgong.
Gets a bit boring after there though, whether you go on to Dunedoo and Dubbo or Merriwa.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

cheers BB, i'll take that as a compliment. Farken long time ago though iv still got the rig, but the hairs long gone. Case of red? its bogan central out there, the house i went to to pick up the stick had four (count em) holden commodores, three with oz flags hanging off the windows. The only other thing i bought was a tub of local honey and a couple of cappuccino's at the "Butcher shop cafe".

If I ever decide to give surfing away I'd move out to Gulgong, top notch little town, friendly locals that are keen for a yarn whichever of the four pubs you decide to visit (usually all of em) and a fun little golf course. Did NYE out there this year and it was stellar fun depsite the rain.

Yeah I gotta agree there. I go up that way with a few cousins once a year to catch up and get on the piss. We stay out on this farm property near Rylstone that borders on Wollemi National Park. Great spot. Usually head into Mudgee or nearby town for a pub session or a game of pool. Usually in winter though.
