First custom stoke part 2!, 6'10'' egg

Post by Beerfan » Tue Jul 08, 2008 1:15 pm

Hey guys, after all the positive feedback about the fatbats, i put in an order with mark for a 6'10 2+1 egg. It's an all round fun machine for knee to a little overhead. I will update the thread as the board progresses. There should be some pics today or tomorrow. Mark himself will probably jump on here also to fill in details.

I've gone for a red tint, and a polished finish. Dims from my crusty memory are 15 3/4 nose 21.5" + 1 3/4'' x 15 1/4'' tail x 2 3/4.

Really happy so far, and mark has been great to deal with.

Will update soon.

Nice! Looks like you'll be having a lot of fun on that board...

How tall and heavy are you? Concaves? Vee? And where do you plan on surfing this board? Long, down-the-line, point breaks?

I could sign up for one of them... if I wasn't saving my arse off to go travelling :( :(
on the upside though, a board like this would be a perfect allrounder for the Land of the free, ie could deal with soouth cal pus but still be fun in the juice further north around santa cruz and San Francisco, being so flat it could pack neatly into a box wrapped in bubble wrap / foam for prior shipping... just thinking out loud... carry on.

Nice one beerfan / pridmore!

2+1 or thruster??

EDIT: sorry just saw the 2+1... what fins are you thinking??

Not meaning to undermine the decision process but at that length I would have thought the degree of flatiddity :D would be a bit, how can I put it... want to track a bit? Good down the line, but more detrimental to cutbacks where it becomes a big back foot plant/pivot, guess it depends on the operator?

MP? You tank tested one of these puppies at that size and rocker? Hard to tell that much from the photo anyway, and looks nice regardless.

Edit: had another longer look at the profile pic in more detail, changed my mind, maybe it’s the flatter entry rocker otherwise pretty continuous, eh Mark?

Ridden a 6'6 fat bat with same rocker, no tracking there mate...I checked out several egg type boards up the local shop and checked 5 or 6 links that Beerfan sent me and examined the rocker of those boards too. Also took the way he surfs ( as described by him in several e-mails ), and due to the board being designed to be super fast and for driving off the bottom and for predominantly smallish waves, than thats what I came up with, might be a bit more curve than pics show I think ??? The single will be in a box to allow some adjustment of fin and also the side bites are FCS, also can be adjusted..., I am confident it will be lots of fun and do what we have designed it to ....Not being defensive here even thogh when I read it back it does sound a bit like that, just explaining the thought process....cheers RV

I'm envisaging a 7(ish) inch cutaway with some mini keel type fins for side bites... but they'd have to be custom made, I don't think theres anything like what I'm imagining currently on the market.

GLs or GXs??? there's bit of difference between the position of those two...

Wow, a lot of replies!!.

Fins, well, at the moment i have a 7 1/2'' LB fin ( dolphin ), and some GX-Q rears as side bites. But, im saving for a greenough fin, maybe an 8'' 4A, or 4C ( ? ) fin. Really raked, and a flexy tip.

Yeah guys it will get a lot of knee to a bit overhead waves ( 1-2' ), but mostly knee to chest/head. And im not a snappy surfer, more carves, and i like to move around on my boards, even my 6'2'' twin keel, so i'll be moving up and down this board ( if that makes sense ).

Single to double

Im 85kg, 5 10.

yeah, the rails on the AquaBat and your single are similar but the Egg's rails are quite different...fuller and forgiving, not as low... :?:  :?:
