Pope Bisects and Trisects - Any Recommendations?
Hey Guys,
I have been thinking about getting either a bisect or a trisect for a little while now to make it a little easier to get from A to B overseas without having to cart a 9'2" around.
I just wondered if anyone had any practical experience in surfing them. Interested to understand how they perform. I'm guessing that the joining points are probably a strong point rather than a weak point but is there a performance trade off? just have this image in my head of racing down the face of a wave and having the front third of the board flip up into my face road runner style.

I've ridden one and actually found it really quite good.
There was one on Ebay recently - think it was the Surf Shop in Yamba - it did not sell at $700 - give 'em a call and see if they still have it......a Harbour from memory.
They don't move around and are not jerky as expected....they have 'em on the USA eBay site all the time and popebisect have a website.
That picture you have there just makes them look so much worse then they are dude.
So easy for travel and I'd consider it if I were travelling for sure - especially with the dollar as it is now.

Nah sorry.LONGINUS wrote:Cheers Animal,
Any experience or knowledge on the trisect mate?
The tri concept is only new and I'd expect only due to the fact that they are now carbon so the extra strength allows a tri rather than bi set up.
Personally, I'd stick with the bi-sect rather than 'tri-sect'. It's tested, been around a while and will be cheaper.
Karl Pope is really approachable. E-mail him via the website and he'll give you all the info.
Good luck with it !

Good one !LONGINUS wrote:hmm, thats interesting, I shot Karl Pope an email last night. There is an australian distribution site link but it still seems to be under construction. I think I'm going to go with the bisect. The stealth carbon fibre board looks very interesting - will post prices and pics for those interested.
Look forward to seeing and hearing more.

Hey Crew,
Received a response from bisects Australia, nice guys. Basically the 9 footer in the image below will cost you $2054 AUSD plus internal shipping. The carbon fibre 'stealth' models wont arrive here until mid year apparently, I think I'm going to wait for that. But dig the dimensions on the 11'6" trisect all packed up - thats pretty small. Wonder if anyone would tthink you were about to set up a sniping rifle if you rocked up on the beach and started unzipping that bad boy hmmm
The 9 footer is 9'0'' length, 18" nose, 22" width, 13.75" tail, 2.88" thick, 6.4kg in weight. Does that sound like an all round performer 2-8 feet type of board?

The carbon fibre would protect you. But lol, whens the last time you had a knife casually inserted into your suitcase of undies and jocks. guess that 12 feet of concertinaed mal would hold more weed than Chapelles OandE boogie board cover though.
I guess, but it still takes up the same weight / volume. Just hope that BA isn't the freight carrier and they find out that it's a surfboard at the last minute and chuck the thing out the door to make room for The Right honorable Fosworths third set of golf clubs. pip pip eh what?Wouldn't freight charges be cheaper since its folded up
