No doubt Roy will critique the thing from every angle, if it ain't harvested from the pristine forests of New Zealand it ain't a wooden surfboard
But seriously would be interested to see it

Sorry guys i dont have any pics of the last one i made.Trust me this is a good thing.I just get old bits of plywood hack out a shape i feel like trying then use it till it falls apart.Wife ended up getting me a plywood skimboard for xmass,so i sort of got to use that for abit to keep the peace. It should be long gone by the end of feb if we get any waves then i will build a new board and post pics just for a On a side note they might look like shit but they are super fast to ride.
Re: Gday from Sydney
Sounds interesting Peter.
Whereabouts do you pre-dominately surf?

hey Pete,
welcome, although i'm only new too.
Would love to see some pic's when you get it built... i've been thinking of having a go at something similar, not much else going on lately surf wise.
If you haven't already, you should check out some of Roy Stewart's boards... they're certainly different, and a bit of food for thought if your into that sort of thing.

I tend to surf out of the way reefs. Some of them are under a foot deep in spots. With a plywood board you only need a few inches of water over flat rocks for it to be surfable.I am 44 years old i dont do tricks so i am happy with a short ride over a suck rock. For me all the fun is in the drop and turning into a barrel you got no chance of making. Some of the spots i surf are Norah Head,Near Crack Neck,Rocks south of Coogie,a place near Stanwell Park that i dont think has a name.Cheers PeterButts wrote:Sounds interesting Peter.

Re: Gday from Sydney
Malboy 2 ways you can go with a board.1 shape like a bell wide at the back. These are super fast.2round nose flat sides to square back. This shape is not as fast, but picks up waves super easy{you can surf 6inch slop if you want with this shape}This is the shape i go for.I dont need the extra speed of the bell shape, and i like being able to catch small waves easy.Anyway have fun hacking one out.Bet by your 3rd wave on it you will be hooked.
Re: Gday from Sydney
I'd be interested in the way those bell shape ones interact with the wave. The mechanics of it and its advantages, if any, over a more traditional shape. Id also love to ride one.
