Blocked ear
Hey has anyone had this before, I had a bit of a sore ear yesterday and now its kinda blocked and i cant hear that well out of it but the other is fine? Is this trapped water or what?
i think iv had that before, holiday in hawksnest n it was just shoreys, got out just figured it was water in my ear but a week later it was still blocked, had my ears candled which is this wierd thing where you get a giant wax straw type thing put in ur ear n lit on fire that makes a suction n pulls all the crap out of ur ear, worked for me but i definately had alot of sand n water stuck in there too so it might not be the same thing
i dunno where to get them but here is a site thats got sum stuff on em http://www.dakara.com/earintro.html
Parasites can cause many problems if allowed to grow in the ear. "Swimmers Ear" is quite often caused by growth of bacteria etc. in the ear plus ear wax which stops the clearing of water from the ear. Some have also removed fleas from ears.
my mum ordered sum of these of the internet cus a friend of hers had them i think im not to sure
*hmm just lookin thru google bout it n there are loads of sites sayin its a hoax n doesnt work so i dunno

Ok heres a proper answer.
Ive had this before a number of times and its due to a build up of wax in the ear. You can go down to a doctor and can syringe it all out leaving you able to hear a pin drop
Its usually best if you soften up your ears with products like cerumol you can get at a chemist. Use that for a few days, which usually does the trick without needing to see a doctor, otherwise go see him and he'll fix it up in 2minutes.

trust me take care of your ears! i have had 2 operations on 1 ear from first having an infection and because i had swimmers ear( or surfers ear)i could never get the drops down my ear. now, because more people are surfing in winter your ear has a natural reaction to keep the water out and closes over(cold water is what causes it). if u get an infection and this happens ur fu:cked. 2 years i spent going in and out of doctors/specialists. my second op was in sydney and cost me 5000 dollars on top of full health insurance if i ever wanted to surf again . cant hear out of that ear very well maybe 30%. if you dont wear blue tack in your ears in winter you will all end up with swimmers ear sumtime in your life. take care

had exactly the same thing when I was a grom. Went to the doc and got both ears syringed. What came out looked exactly like a cigarette butt though it was pure ear wax. My hearing after that was amazing - so crisp.
I have tried the candles (called Hopi candles??? from one of those alternate shops) and they didn't work for me. They might suck out some water but useless for anything else.

i had kinda the same thing.
i had to do a triathlon in yr 11 and got an ear infection from the pool water (apparently its really really nasty all the chlorine and chemicals) i had fungus growing out of my ears. i had to do a 3 hour drive to perth for a guy to suck crap out of them. a month later i had to get a hearing test to find out i had chronic glue ear and needed grommets. which meant no surfing for 6 months so i negged out and didnt get them. now a year on iv got another ear infection and have an immobile eardrum . its amazing that so many ppl go in the water but no one gets ear infections and stuff like that.

Fa*rk thats heavy ay, im full worried cuz the last time i visited a doc he said that they were pretty narrow. Hopefully your from like SA or something so i have som etime on my hands to fix things.
Ill tell ya what though, if i was born in the past beyond the last 50/100 years id be literally useless at my current tender age. If it wern'y for my knee operations i wouldnt have been able to walk, and id probably be like 99% deaf. F*ck im so gratefull

This is the solution. And if it turns out not to be wax build-up, your doc will no doubt point you in the right direction.yanks r us wrote:Ok heres a proper answer.

I have the exact same thing right now. Ive had it for close to 2 weeks. Going to Dr today coz its pissing me off.
Also did something to my shoulder while surfing yesterday. Frckn worst pain ive ever had (like someone stabbing me in shoulder). I hope its not a torn rotator cuff.
Will be my first trip to a Dr in about 3 years.
