ear probs

Post by slowy » Mon Feb 04, 2008 12:11 pm

I used to get this all the time. Now after every surf I put a few drops of "Aqua ear" in each ear. It is a isopropanol alcohol that dries up any moisture in the canal...with no moisture bacteria can't grow!! Whacko no ear probs.
The alcohol can hurt like fark though if you already have an infection or any broken skin.

Nath, get your shoulder sorted asap. I tore a tendon underneath a muscle in my rotator cuff. Couldnt lift my arm. Now after 3 weeks its getting better. You may need to see a sport physican and get an MRI to see if it has been torn.

Been using aqua ear for years whenever it retains a bit of juice.

Fa*k heavy ay. How old are you anyway? after going through all that you have..
I had the ear op last year from Dr Ellsworth at Mona Vale. I had full cover and had the op at Delmar and the cost was around $1600. I have now had both earsdone and today they are blocked. Got to love watery ears:roll:

Yeah i think so, the things that look like those things doctors have to se ein the ear. You can always just use warm olive oil and that'll soften things up and remove it - unelss its severe. Ive got the waxiest ears but, its just the same as a runny nose except its yellowy and sticky :P

I'm in a similar situtaion to Heefcoate, I had surfers ear drilled in Sept 06 with almost 4 months no surfing. Because the exotoses (bones) were pushing up against my ear drum it was a bit weak so I then managed to rupture the ear durm snorkelling in Feb last year. This then lead to another operation to patch the ear drum which kind of worked but its still suss and I have been out of the water for virtually the last 3 months to try and get the ear drum stronger.. All in all I have probably spent the majority of last year and 4 months in 06 out of the water. My tip would be to use plugs religioulsy (blue tack, docs pro plugs etc ) and if you do get surfers ear don't leave it to late to drill it (I did an regret it). Also don't use cotton buds to clear your ears as you can just push wax and crap deeper/ and or screw your ear drum. If your ears feel suss, go and see and ear nose & throat surgeon (its worth the money) as GP's tend to have no idea (IMHO) - I had a GP tell me my ears were sweet 6 weeks before my ENT showed me on a scan that one was 95% blocked and the other was 70% blocked .

Ok lads just got back from DR. Yes I have the dreaded surfers ear. Have to use Sorfradex Drops 3 times a day and take Claratyne. The goods news is i don't have full blown infection in the ear. My right canal has just closed over (hence the feeling of a blocked ear).

And as for the shoulder it looks like I have bursitis in both em. Will rest the shoulder for a while and see. If it keeps up Im off for a MRI.

There shouldn't be any "just" in that sentence if we are talking exostosis  really sorry to here/hear that if it is :(
If it's well engineered it's beautiful .
