DK technique
Earlier today, due to the absolute cr*p waves showin up at the local, i decided (after 15+ years of solid prone riding) to have a go at DK...
Man...this is hard sh*t! Like everything, it takes practice...but, i must say, i found it quite easy to, at least, get to my knees and ride the wave...i absolutely loved it...such frickin different way of looking at the wave and feeling the momentum...
So, to the point, any of you DK guys out there, any pointers on DK technique? I'm not talkin about moves and sh*t, just pure balance/speed/etc to try to get the 2nd leg round b4 taking off, that would be a start...
This is quite a kooky post hey? haha

I only do it sometimes, so my advice isn't devine...
I find that you get a bit more balance by angling your back shin from the middle/tail(foot) of your board to the outside/middle(knee).
Also, its easier to get up if its all in one move, like surfing. just plant your back knee and swing that front fin out.

when you get your knee on the board. depending what leg you put up the front. eg. if you put youyr left leg up the front. use your left hand and place your hand where you need to put your flipper/foot. like to the left of the plug. place your foot., on your hand and then take your hand away, that way your foot always ends up in the same spot for increased balance and control.
haven't tried much stuff out in bed have you son.I_BOOGER wrote:the best things are done lying down...so be a bodyboarder!!!!
try getting into DK as quick as you can, I get up in 2 steps, I find it easier and better for me, my mate gets up in one step and finds it better that way.
my way is getting on 2 knees and then flicking your right foot (i am goofy) around.
make life easy as well and try plugging your board as close to the edge as possible, thats what I think anyway, I have mine about 3 inches from the left hand side
i dont push up like majority of surfers, i lift my arse and slide my knees under, that allows me to get rail control earlier and then i can whip my knee around, works for me but i am not you, and bigger boards are so much easier omg, rediculous, try riding a 39" dkone when your 6'0" and 70 kgs, not easy, but the styraxs rail system works a treat, hahahahahhah
