Check this one out in the US

http://www.ronjonsurfpark.com/

Reading the tour part of the website, they reckon to be the worlds first only wave pool facility built specifically for surfing and bodyboarding.

Its wave size is from 3ft to 8ft......

This place sounds prety awesome

yea i saw a doco on tv about this place....looks pretty sik, clearly u can never really beat the real thing but sh!t it'll be close, in terms of consistency and stuff it will be sweet...as CJ says in the clip u would be able 2 practice ur stuff on the exact same wave which would be sik as

who wants to chip in for one of these? i'll start off with $5

I e-mailed dreamworld asking them about flowrider and they are still questioning putting a barrel in because of all the injuries at fox studios.

i am certain that although there would be injuroies and they wouldnt be able to churn through as many ppl but there will definatly be more demand if its got a hollow section.

But if they do not put a barrel in there would be no point of one anyway.

can't remember who posted it, or where, but someone phoned Dreamworld to complain about the lack of barrel in the flowrider and was told that Tom Lochfeld (flowrider inventor and salesman) told them they should keep it easy for the first 6-12 months and then consider altering it to allow for the full barrelling stationary wave we are accustomed to seeing riden in other flowriders around the world... something about giving regular users a chance to master the easy version. sounds like fear of litigation to me

fingers crossed, but really its just a novelty... at $20 an hour I can't see myself going after the first novelty experience!

Hate to be the grumpy old bastard - but I think these things suck bigger than a horde of goat boats invading your local.

Think about how much energy is contained in a wave. Then think about how much energy would be required for a wavepool to generate a 5ft wave the size of a football field. Then multiply this by 3 waves a minute for 12 hours a day.

So where does all this energy come from? Not some innocuous storm out in the Pacific - but a huge coal fired power station belching out CO2, SOx, NOx, radiation and mercury.

Whats worse is the seaworld one is only a stones throw from plenty of epic, warm waves!

If you can’t find a nearby crowded beach, make one! Only in Japan...

Seagaia, Miyazaki, Japan - Ocean Dome is known as the world's largest indoor water park (300m-100m-38m), with a retractable roof. The air temperature is always kept around 30º C and the water temperature is kept at around 28º C.

Yeah, the japanese harpoon everything. :  But about the power thing it is powered by a hydraulic pump which generated energy in a similiar matter to that of a car so yes there is lots of waste energy. But then again so does house electrical and using your computer. Turn your computer off and go sit down and read a book by candle light.
