crossed fingers for the aussie, surely him and the hawaiian will shut the door on ribzy.
Interesting situation here. Davey Weare can only requalify if Troy Brooks, Travis Logie and Victor Ribas all make top 26 in the CT, and they all need good results here at Pipe for that to happen. It makes no difference what result Weare gets - 1st isn't good enough for him to make it. So if Weare knocks out Ribas, it's all over for him.

What would you do? Lay down for the zilla? Block everyone else so he can win? Or go all out, knowing that this may be the only Pipe Masters you ever get a start in?

im pretty sure andy irons is leading the ratings for the triple crown with his win in the first comp...and i think he made the finals at sunset.

parko is comming in second

id say andy is in good sted to at the least take out the triple crown as well as the pipe masters

I thought it's about surfing; not nationalism or "personalities"

It's really f**ken good being here today and watching for real.

A perfect Hawaiian day, beautiful tradewinds, clean 8-foot swell. Best surf of the season so far.

A LOT of people here, enjoying the day, very good vibe.

Being here I think the Usual Suspects have the edge on the pack, AI, Kelly, Parko, Jamie O'Brien, the guys who don't just surf brilliantly but choose precisely the right waves, cause that's what Pipe is all about -- like every other contest. Just that most people forget it thanks to all the, err, distractions. (ie they're scared s**tless.)

Bruce Irons. OMG.
Somebody should cut off all his limbs. (He'd probably still score 10s.)
