What dims channels?
Got one of those a little while back. Bought it as a step up - 6'4". Have only ridden it 3 times but I'm not sure about it, feels a little weird, super stiff, rides like it's a 6"8". Looking at it i anticipated it would be a consistent feeling straightforward step up from the board i have, both have similar outlines, rocker, concave and all that shit. It rides way different.
Duck, spent a lot of time riding this over the weekend. I see what you mean. Saturday was pretty windy onshore, slightly overhead waves breaking randomly whereas Sunday was a little more consistent, still strong winds but more side/offshore but head high. A couple of years ago, I think this would have been too much board but still building up strength and fitness it was about right. The additional weight of the glass was helpful in the wind, although the volume was a bit of a pain when caught inside.

If I had to compare it to previous shortboards, it's way smoother and less frenetic but harder to gain instant acceleration I think turns would be less radical. I think the consistent rail line, rounded pin and smaller concaves probably all contribute to this. I reckon if you blow a wave on this board, it would be all user error and rarely the board.

I reckon a few on here would hate this board as a daily driver but not a bad option as a bigger guy shortboard or for me building back up. I'm thinking that once I'm at full fitness it will probably go into the rack for winter or better waves.

Picked this up off gumtree.

Lost - short round model - lib-tech.
6’2 x 21 x 2.63 @ 38 litres.

Secondhand, used twice, and in mint condition. Half the price at $550 w’out fins (retails new at $1099 AUD)

Bought a new set of FCS2 performer carbon XL size to go with it at $159.

Got it for beach breaks, waist high to a foot or two overhead.

Only managed a quick go out just now at Stanwell Park. The second I arrived the south wind kicked in at full speed and ruined the conditions, so too early to feel it out yet.

Here’s the blurb on it

Give us some progress reports on how it holds up with use.

Will do. I’m equally interested in the flex pattern compared to standard polyurethane boards.

I sort of agree with Legion. Iggy can surf and he’s no Grooter at all. The 5’10 which is around Igg’s height would be perfect. Most small wave boards are suggested below your height. Looks like a bargain though

I can ride a 5”10. But at 46 years of age at 90kg for the purpose of smaller weaker waves the 6’2 at 38 litres will do just fine, considering my standard size for a shorty is 6’4. I’m not that tall but it’s the whole long legs and ape length arms thing. I prefer a longer rail line to drive off and cover ground with. Always have.

If it was a board for overhead to double overhead reef breaks I’d probably be riding a knifey 32 litre board. But 32 litres on non-groundswell conditions might see me tic tacking, bogging or going flappity flap in flat sections. Then I might have to kill myself.

Nice Iggs. I’m super happy with my Lost. Build quality is excellent. Not a single compression mark after 6 months use.

So is 38 litres supposed to be a lot??? Too much??

Only asking because I don’t have a single board with litres written on it.

And before one of you bastards calls me Mr Creosote I’m 182/90.

If each glute weighs 35kg then you'll need the 38L.

Try this volume calculator toots, it's not bad for a general approximation. Takes in age, weight, height, experience level etc...

I'm of similar age and dimensions to you Iggs and i think 38l is about right, plenty of times i think about going higher particularly after a crowded sesh or if I haven't been able to get in the water for a while.

28-28.5L seems to be my magic number for an all rounder for the boards of mine that have stated litres anyway.

I'm 76 kegs.

But I'm open to anything.
