yeah that's what they are

pretty common now from big manufacturers to still see the machine cut lines if you look close. normally they'd finish it off by hand to blend out those lines.

Precisely ... purely cosmetic and shouldn't interfere in performance whatsoever. Mind you, I'd a thunk they'd a sanded em out during the finishing process. Nonetheless, it only affects the aesthetics.

thing is though, its not a big manufacturer, its Neal Purchase Jnr - thought I was paying a premium for a handshape... and supporting proper board shaping in the process.

feels like that... but will wait for Neal to get back to me before getting too carried away. Wouldnt want to make incorrect assumptions on his work, he has been a cool guy to deal with.

Did you order a custom, or assume a custom?
Not a criticism, I don't know how he runs his business.

I'd be cut up if I paid that sort of coin, even though it may actually surf better than a handshape due to reduced margin for error.
Is he one of the cats that moved to Bali and upped prices?
Nice work if you can get it

no he's far far north coast. I see him out all the time.

custom doesn't necessarily equal hand-shaped at all any more.

My 2+1 has some of these as well. The squail and quartet less so. I waited over three months for the 2+1 - it better be freakin hand shaped

Yes, was just going to say this.
Yeah I know, but I was trying to figure out if he ordered a model/stock dimensions or tweaked something. In the latter case I'd be even less happy.

And yes I realise you could tweak the file for the machine, but I don't think his customers are paying for his typing prowess

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

About 3 emails, 2 phone calls to whittle it down... Taken some similarities to one of his models but ultimately I felt he was going to make me something based in our discussion.

Here is some interesting info on him from sunhouse surf shop http://sunhousesurf.com/post/9065096652 ... urchase-jr

Call the shaper and speak to him in person ... voice your concerns. The problem here is that you will be asking questions that should have been raised prior to ordering, not after the fact. If at the end of the day you only assumed you were receiving a handshape and didn't actually ask or specify then its simply a matter of ... caveat emptor.
