Worth a look - Tracks design issue and vids
The latest Tracks mag is worth the cover price if for no other reason than the DVD that comes with it. It has three mini movies ojn it, one of them is "Contrasts" which is a ripper. So good to see something that is shot where you can see more than a boardlength of the wave, isn't all about airs or outright stupidly big waves that no-one would ever surf and has some great comments/banter from some solid power surfers.
It's also their annual design issue so the contents of the actual mag are pretty good too. Simon Anderson goes into some pretty good detail about board design (thanks for the heads-up Beanpole)

Half way through watching the DVDs. We got a T Box so we better disconnect and watch the others. I thought it was pretty good value

i never bother with mags, but flicked through it at a mates, then went and bought it. plenty of info on boards and designs, and not to many ads, some interesting reading....im guessing all the shapers paid to get their boards in though
best part of the dvds is left foot forward, as you all know, goofies are a far superior race of surfers

One of my fave DVD's and whack it on whenever the boys come around for beer and surf DVD's. Only a Goofy knows the feeling......of pipe and Chopes and most of indo and Cloudbreak and Mundaka and etc etc etc...
When it gets to this level of self important stupidity I lose interest.

The wayne lynch article is a good read and I like the fitty fitty DVD captures the spirt and feel of a Sumatra boat trip, i remember when it came out the first time the article was all about the Mentawai's and new waves after the quake, which was all a bit of a crook as they dont surf the one new wave the quake made better (roxys/Malakopa) and only get as far south as greenbush.
They do head the total opposite direction to the Telo's though and get some nice rights.

Re: Worth a look - Tracks design issue and vids
guys, I read what simon andersons take was on channel bottom boards, im a channel bottom board enthusiast and one day will get one again. Ive ridden good concave boards but nothing gave the same feeling as a channel bottom, the speed and drive was unparrelled. I think the main reason he quoted was manufactoring reasons why he doesnt do them, but I will have to read his reasons again as sometimes I miss what people are saying.
Does anyone have any thoughts after reading this simon interview and what he said on channels, love to hear what you think.

Was a little disappointed with the design issue, I was hoping it would include a bit more about new and interesting design tangents, and scratch the surface a little deeper about the dynamics of surfing and board design.
I think it would be good for someone who hasnt read much about design yet tho.
Just my bias

I hear ya caveman, I was hoping on some information on composites, which I believe is a great product, enabling a lighter board, but heavier glass, just like what tiger has done, but nothing, nothing at all, which was dissapionting
