If ya talkin about original 70's twins , you may be better with those short slide boxes.....they'll give you far more placement options.

^^^
This was a fish shaped by Pridmore that I saw on GumTree a while back. I can't remember how big the fins on that board were but from the pic it definitely looked like it had FCS plugs.

Some twins use custom fins with 3 FCS plugs for more strength.

I hear MR has shut shop. So who in or near sydney is the best bet for a high performance twin fin ? Either as a 'model' shape, or custom ?

Not a fish or mini Simmons type either. A proper high performance type board, for knee to shoulder high and a bit over. Essentially a board for tearing up small beachies, rail to rail non stop.

Nup. He's got an online shop, plus boards available at a number of stores. Still shaping a variety of amazing twins. I've got one of his first mega twins. Stupid name, sounds like a big guy over volumed board. It's actually a refined 70s outline with modern foil, rocker, rails and bottom contours. Still goes like the clappers in Sydney beachbreak. Except when you blow the FCS plugs out of the foam on a bottom turn :( Got it repaired and plug area strengthened. Using MR 78 glass fins. Never use the small centre stablizer fin.

Oh ok . Thanks will look into it . I guess MR is a safe bet . Last thing I want to do is wind up shelling out good money on somebody who's just playing trial and error.

Nigel Beckham also shapes an unreal twin fin, more like a split single actually, but he's in WA now I believe and hard to get hold of. No website etc.

Cool. Yeah DHDs twinny looks good. As does LSDs.

I really dig the loose free continuous rail to rail feel of them . Ideal for beachies . But I reckon it's super important that u get one off someone who knows how to shape them properly.

Shit ones turn like you're on ball bearings or shopping trolleys.

Yeah they are nice those GMcN boards . They'd go like a whistle on the points up there .

Probably a touch too much on the fish side of the spectrum of what I'm after for burgery beach breaks.

The Gary mcneill rasta tt works In high ride, soft waves, they are fish but high performance fish. Have a look at The movie "The gathering " by Nathan oldfield. If you ré looking for a real low end groveller Check out gary's cv1......a rasta/greenough collaboration would be awesome

I agree el rancho, apparently it can be ridden as a quad or twin fin......imagine charging down The line at a Point break on this with a set of sea shepperd keels
