My Octafish works great in 2 foot peelers. But I do think for the design to work properly it needs to 'get up to speed".
If it's zippy little 2 footers, great.

If it's slow and weak and fat 2 footers I have more fun on other boards that work better at slower speeds.

And seconded on the Mini-Merk. I love that board.

If I was going to get a bonzer for less than decent waves it would be a MBLV.
But a widish roundtail quad does the job.

Agree with that Steve.

In junky or slower surf, need the thruster to get the snappier direction changes.

Probably been posted a million times but worth a look again

How's that wave. Board looks loose with stacks of lift. Nice riding.

That's my next one. I had a 6'3 - but too much foam for my short a**.

Minor meltdowns over Alex Knost surfing old school on a bonzer in Kelly’s paddle puddle.

yeah one thing is you can't see changes in the wave shape, the water is murky and there's no "draw" off the base so no sign of approaching barrels etc, so I was kind of improvising on that one. it takes a few waves to get the timing in your head so you can figure out where to fade and draw a line up into the barrel from behind - that's the best line.

I liked it. Moving around like that takes skill and I thought it looked pretty stylish.

How do people get upset by that?
Even if it's not your cup a tea, who gives a fcuk? Nothing to bloody cry about.
I enjoyed it, anyway.

I had my MLV out at green island yesterday and in smallish point waves - lots of fun.

yeah, a 7 foot bonzer. Get a custom semi-gun with your choice of tail and measurements.

Full gun that one. Semi gun good suggestion. Rounded pin tail I reckon.

Would you be interested in a Russ Short 6'7" by 20 1/2" by 2 11/16".

Round pin, five fin, forward foil, medium rails, refined tail. Shaped by Malcolm Campbell.

VGC for $500. (New they’re over a grand)

It was tootrs, he barely used it (did his shoulder in), who then sold it to loofy (loofy couldn’t gel with it, didn’t surf it much), loofy then sold it to me. I’ve surfed it three times. Great board (I’ve had a bonzer before) but it’s simply got too much beef for my 78kg. I’d need a finer rail.

If you’re 85kg plus it’d be fine for you. And would easily handle double overhead and bigger.

Thanks Hatchman, looks good. I'm around 80 kilo odd but I know I need a 7ft or a little more.

Unless I'm mistaken, that's the board loofy was riding when Laird complimented him.
