I couldn't get past 1min 11s but from what I can see that board has severe limitations in that kind of surf. I certainly wouldn't be wanting a bonzer in that situation.
What goes here, is it just me?

Another one, good surfing in spite of the board!

I just took it as read that they were the duck's arse because everyone said so, but now I'm disillusioned. Where's the good footage of them ripping.

FGS batoes it ain't about how I surf or even if I can surf at all, or whether I have ridden a bonzer or not, it was an observation of how I thought the bonzers went.
Here's Taylor Knox and Rob Machado in mexico ripping. I don't think they are on bonzers but I do think their boards and surfing are considerably better than the previous bonzer vids

WSL style boards and WSL style surfing in thelatter Mex clip.
Bonzer board and non-WSL style surfing in the other Mex clip.
I relate to the non-WSL style more since its more for visualisation and thinking yep, I can do that turn right there on my boards and its going to feel goooood!

What initially caught my eye in the first clip was how difficult the turns seemed to be. The bonzer seemed too long and too flat in the tail and was resisting the cutback and taylor seemed to be struggling to make it happen. Everything except straight line speed and a nice bottom turn seemed to be happening in spite of the board design, not because of it.

I recently picked up a bonzer second hand made on Malcolm s last visit & now I understand. I ve ridden it all week & have had a ball in all different types of waves. Not sure if anything else carves a better turn on an open face & the bottom turns after a steep drop hmmmmm
Best of all, it allows me to relax my shoulders when surfing which makes me feel all stylish & hipster like whilst I may not be as stylish as al knost it def smoothed out my surfing whilst still motoring along at speed.
Stoked!!!

What model ?
Still dreaming of a bonzer egg. Could have bought one recently, had the cash ( or close enough to get away with it
), but not getting out much so just wasn't sure it'd be worth it for surfing every few weeks in average surf.

Hey beerfan, it's a bonzer 5 pod which is kinda like the egg but with a pulled in nose. It also reminds me plan shape wise of a stretched out MLV. I wasn't sure about it because it is wider & thicker than I would normally ride (I had never ridden a bonzer before either) but decided to give it a whirl because it was second hand & I reckon I could sell it to Batoes if it didn't work out
Anyway really glad I did, great board which goes well in clean 2 ft ers plus bigger stuff. I haven't worked out which type of waves I prefer it in yet because I have had fun & some great waves every time I ve ridden it (only had it a week & surfed 4 times tho).
The thickness is a funny thing, it feels chunky on land but not in the water. It floats me higher, the bonus is I catch more waves & more glide......it still jams a turn off the tail like a mofo. Great open face carves, bottom turns & closeout reos.
Goes well backside but i need to work on that as I have a snappier backhand which hasn't clicked as well as my carvier more drawn out forehand.

Sign of great shaping I reckon. Campbell bros and particularly my pavel show this character...
