I rode my octafish in well overhead solid point surf today. Loving pushing it outside of it's comfort range.
Got pitched on one set wave and then the next got a no hands backside tube at top speed right across the outside section.

That's a tough one...

I think based on the waves i surf, the BB is a better daily driver. The ease of the fin placement - 7 inch at 5 3/4 and you can ride it from waist to head high in a range of conditions means it is a solid choice.

BUT, the MLV is such a fun board. It has a really distinctive feel in its ride - the flow and glide of the single, long drawn out turns and incredible speed. Best at knee to shoulder height, clean and lined up with some curve.

For me - i really enjoy both - but there is something pure about the MLV and i would choose that. I have a few other boards that would be considered daily drivers that compete with the BB. The MLV with 3 fin and light vehicle bottom is the shizzle and purely in its own class.

But - it ain't for everyone!
Sounds like the MLV is a point break demon & I shouldnt deny myself such pleasure! So when is Malcolm due? Its bonzer season!

Yep - i reckon you've got your high performance boards covered - the MLV is pure fun. Hell, even finless, it's fun!

Finally got around to starting the bonzer order. Went for a reasonably contemporary shape, just with the wide point pushed 3" forward of center. 6'5" x 20" x 2 1/2".

Did a bit of tint work, which I've never really done much of. Came out alright, looks a lot better in the flesh than in the pics.

Love the outline, the fin placement looks more forward than stock bonzers.
Is that a conscious decision or just the angle of the photo?

Sexy board.

Diamonds always seem to look right on bonzers.

That's a great looking board Tim.
Reminds me of one of my old faithfuls, a MC 7T diamondtail that I rode with just such a set up.
What about sourcing a True ames bonzer centre fin for it?
