Re: bonzers.....the quad fad is over
TSND also has a 5'10" Bumblebee listed - 5'10" x 21" x 2 7/8.
I don't know what you're looking for, Drailed, but in case you're thinking that 5'10" is too little, the 5'8" I got has plenty of volume. The shortest board I've ever owned was a 5'10" McCoy potbelly, and the 5'8" BB floats me just as well as it did. Before I got it I thought I'd prefer 5'10", but I took the 5'8" BB out last weekend and I had no trouble with it being that couple of inches shorter than I'm used to. If it was any longer and therefore wider, I reckon it'd be too much volume.

The Shop Next Door in Manly. Interesting boards, exorbitant prices.

Re: bonzers.....the quad fad is over
I am 6'2, 6'0 length is my shortest. 6'2 is preferred..
I think current range in stock shaped by malcolm around 5'6-5'10. Cant be too sure though as when I realised all too short for me I didnt take much notice..

Thanks man.
I just got out of the water at Cronulla point.
It was great for a reality check.
My fitness has declined significantly since the arrival of my child 7 months ago. Doubt I'd be able to use a board that short.

Re: bonzers.....the quad fad is over
Rode my mlv this arvo in some small, but fun, clean conditions. Rode it with the BLEF fin. The accounts of how the fin feels finless are accurate. It turns on a dime. The problem is, it lacks drive. Probably means i should get a larger one: 7inch. I tried to change fins mid surf, but the screw was too thick to fit the other fins and it ended up threaded...
So i went without and rode it with just the glass on side runners. It was actually far more fun than i'd ever thought - lots of speed and more control thanks to the runners, so i managed a little barrel and my first 180. Don't think i'd go out and get a finless board, but it's good to know the bonzer can do it in the right conditions.

You need a Mandala dark crystal...
I ride my flat rockered 6'3" pacer fish with bonzer side runners (larger ones) in the front quad plugs and a pair of M7 glass flexs cut down to keels in the rear plugs (which give more control and drive than another set of bonzer runners) when I want semi-finless slide and glide and its a huge amount of fun.

Yeah i've seen those and that kiwi guy riding them. It would take some serious skill to get the most out of that design. I'd be willing to have another go - you are right - it was really fun.Cuttlefish wrote:You need a Mandala dark crystal...

Batoes here is a hypothetical, you can only have one bonzer either the MLV or BB, what would u choose & why?
Davros: "But it felt a bit long and stiff"
Re: bonzers.....the quad fad is over
Knowing your board buying exploits you'll end up with both anyway, so just get both to start with
Re: bonzers.....the quad fad is over
That's a tough one...JaM71 wrote:Batoes here is a hypothetical, you can only have one bonzer either the MLV or BB, what would u choose & why?
I think based on the waves i surf, the BB is a better daily driver. The ease of the fin placement - 7 inch at 5 3/4 and you can ride it from waist to head high in a range of conditions means it is a solid choice.
BUT, the MLV is such a fun board. It has a really distinctive feel in its ride - the flow and glide of the single, long drawn out turns and incredible speed. Best at knee to shoulder height, clean and lined up with some curve.
For me - i really enjoy both - but there is something pure about the MLV and i would choose that. I have a few other boards that would be considered daily drivers that compete with the BB. The MLV with 3 fin and light vehicle bottom is the shizzle and purely in its own class.
But - it ain't for everyone!

Re: bonzers.....the quad fad is over
Just ordered a PB Bonzer Nomad, no Venturi system but it's a little different with a concave deck, meant to be fun, ridden short, 6ft, my usual boards for everyday are 6'2-6'4.
