Anyone who says quads are not faster than a thruster set up only need to look at how much speed Dane generates in this clip. Its almost too fast to watch. Ive never seen anyone surf that fast , not even Mick. I saw a clip of Bruce Irons on a Stretch quad once that gave me goose pimples, sooo quick. Got to love a quad.

I've only ridden rail centric quads, not out of choice, but because that's what got thrown my way LOL. Can't believe I still don't own one! The rail approach appeals to me because I like the idea of riding something less like a thruster, but I really should see how the other half lives to have any opinion.

I've only had a few waves on rail centric quads, both very different boards. It was nowhere near enough surfing to get an idea of what they can do, but they did feel more like twin fins in the lines that they liked.

I'm super happy with the McKee set-up, I don't feel the need to change at all, they just add benefits on top of a thruster for how I like to surf :)

No dims that i saw Mical. Short blurb on how it was inspired by some sort of racing boat.

No doubt there will be more info forthcoming (if it works 8) )

Was reading comments on it at the Channel Islands blog. A lot of people are criticizing it because its based on powerboat technology and speeds, not surfboard speeds. Something to do with reducing the wetted area of a board to reduce drag...

Then again, a lot of people criticize something new and unusual, just because its new and unusual :)

Also a tonne of people wanting to get their hands on one or planning it as their next custom, even though it's not tested :?

Others begging him to ride his standard boards, forget all this innovation crap and just go back to winning 10.

 Get a life and leave the poor cnut to it. (Not you CC, I mean them)

Question for the Nick Carrol's, RV's or Pridmore's of this forum. How user friendly would a board like this be for the non-pro surfer?

I'm not Carroll, Ric or Mark but if I may add something I'd say it's not even proven to be pro friendly yet.

any board that KS rides for high perf surfing is not gunna be any good for the average punter, boards need to suit the surfers ability, something some are finally learning thankfully....dunno bout this one but I am sure there is method behind the madness.... 8)

Checked the blog out on CI's web page ... Bruce McKee posted a rather interesting post on the subject... then some clown asks him how much he's been smoking ... this idea has apparently been around for some time ... with some variations ... interesting but not an earth shattering breakthrough ... you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet ... gotta love the egg breakers.

Don’t bring me into it, I’m just a tinkerer who makes the odd jalopy and yes I am not one to do what everyone else does. Innovation is good. I will say this though, there is a far greater acceptance if the board has the right logo on it. If they float, they work to some extent at least. :?

:D The chunnel isn’t a patch on something that is coming from an Australian crew, most complex bottom contours I have ever seen, almost finless, but we will leave that to Mr Hynd. Couple of boards have been under some qualified feet and apparently all good and have some interested backers/participants including past champs.

Was asked yesterday if myself and another guy would be interested in glassing/sanding some prototypes, we just started shaking. I cam imagine UVing one but NOT sanding it. More on that if/when it can be displayed to the masses. Patented design in Australia and extending to the balance I am led to believe. NC may know of the board design in question.

Some nice slow HD footage of Kelly on his labia...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99dyBnML2dw

Now if the pipe masters footage and this little clip don't generate some more interest in shorter and wider quads, who knows what will.

Got no choice, Mical. I will help them or anyone in any manner I can if it is appropriate. Don’t think the timing is right as they have already ‘spoken’ to some photographers/videographers about exposing the product.

Will ask if/when we next speak if I can post a photo, but don’t have anything at the moment.
