Wait till the first winter storms hit in April/May and they will clear the sand off the southside of the groyne and then surf the rights!
For a board, I used to go shorter but thicker to deal with the sucky drop at that spot and with a fair amount of nose rocker but fairly flat through the tail to deal with the fatness of the mid section.
what's your take on what'd work for this 2??

Re: what's your take on what'd work for this 2??
jeez this is all a bit over-complicated isn't it
just get a shorter and slightly wider vers of a normal hi perf board, maybe 3-5" down on your normal board, reduced rocker yet slightly increased outline curve, perhaps even a slight bump near the front fin set, Al Merrick Flyer 2 type template springs to mind
Don't complicate things with extra fins, stick to 3
This spot isn't that specialised that you need to design a board that works there and only there ie Pipe or something.
Suspect your real issue is with technique, not boards. Your descriptions of your "snap-not-carve" approach may be due to an over-dependence on upper body swing weight -- pretty common among heavier surfers of your vintage. Re that, on your comeback from surgery, try to work on surfing out of your hips, knees and ankles, instead of trying to force the issue with your arms and shoulders. Good style means doing more with less.
