Nice work huie,
who cares if it's been done before, no shame in copying a good idea.
Wishing you the best with it mate, if it comes down this way (Sydney) I'd definitely be interested in giving it a try. If not, no harm done. Hope the project goes well.

Re: ###travelling c d d compsand
The traveller arrived at my place today. Come home from surfing sick waves on the points, to find it in the shed . Unfortunately didn't have the time or energy, to go back out today.
I'm working down the S end of the coast for the rest of the week, will try and get a surf on it conditions permitting. Waves are looking like being pretty solid and serious for the next few days, so will likely surf my regular craft. Looking like good waves at the points on the wknd, so will probs have it's maiden voyage then.

Re: ###travelling c d d compsand
Finally got a chance to take the board out for a run this morning. Clean 2-3ft peaks being the perfect surf for the job.
A quick description of the board:
6' X 19 3/4" X 2 3/8", or so it says, I didn't run a tape over it.
Pretty much a std shortboard rocker, with an accentuated bit of flip in the nose.
Very slight single conc running from just before the entry point, to between the fins.
As the dimensions suggest, it's a full outline, with a lot of width in the back half.
Rails are different. Deck has a lot of roll in it, and wafers down to lowish volume rails. That are boxy, and very high, with a defined bottom edge all the way to the nose.
Set up as a quad, with the fins fairly straight, not a lot of toe.
Performance wise, I had a blast on the thing. On first impressions of viewing the board, I had the feeling I'd like it forehand and probably struggle a bit backhand. So I was hunting lefts to give it a whirl forehand, but it was like I had a righthander magnet on.
But it felt good backhand. Was great off the top, could snap it super tight in the pocket. Was a little underfinned for me off the bottom backhand. The waves actually picked up while I was out there, and some were quite a bit overhead. I found I was overturning, and having to nurse it off the bottom. I'm sure bigger fins would have fixed this problem.
I only got 4 or 5 waves forehand, and it went insane. Was able to be put in real tight places in the hook, and still come back underneath me out of the turn. Climbed up and over things really easy, great if you were a bit late on a reo.
Would only take a few small refinements, and this board would be just perfect for me in sub shoulder high waves. Personally those things would be to have the rails a little lower. Not less rail volume, just a change to the tucked under part of the rail. They just lacked a bit of bite, the hard edge counteracted the highness of the rail to a certain degree, and the rails were very forgiving. But I prefer a little more drive and bite from a lower rail. Other than that, the rocker and planshape were spot on for me. And I'd only have to toy around with fin combo's to fine tune it.
I think Huie's actually more interested in feedback on the construction performance, with it being an epoxy/compsand thingy. I'll report back on how it's holding up after a few more surfs, and on any noticeable performance characteristics.
