Hi Josh,
The yellow "drifter" twinnie on your Facebook page is the best board porn I ve seen in quite some time. What was the brief and could you give more detail on that sweet chariot?
Cheers

Yo 'Llo -
I would'nt go there - that looks like major fnuck-up potential in the wrong hands.
I'd do it to a new board if my arm was twisted, but retro-fittng - nup.
But Jam71 - thanks for the nod. Are you a facebook friend or just lurking?
Here's the said yellow board, the Drifter - 6' x 21 x 2 5/8 JD

Re: Josh Dowling Designs
We re friends, Facebook friends. Love ya work. Beautiful outline and an interesting tail shape. Looks like a little rocket that will fly in small to medium waves.

Hey mate, did it take you that long to undo the wrapping? It'd be a good birthday party pass-the-parcel.Beerfan wrote:I picked up a bomb proof 5'4" package an hour ago. Will update with pics in the next few days when I get a chance. Very excited!!
I've done pics with my buddy the real photographer - give him the time to sort them after his break - he does it for free for me.
Meanwhile, outline day. 6'4 for "Channels" and a weird-out for DV8

Re: Josh Dowling Designs
Cheers josh it took me a while at work haha. I'll let you put pics up coz ivd forgotten how. Basically flat today. No kids for a week so I'll keep trying til I get it wet. It's fkucking light as a feather!!!!!!!
Re: Josh Dowling Designs
Surfed the ultimate summer junk slop windswell shorebreak this morning. Board paddles unreal. Caught the junk very very easily and from the tiny amount of time up and going I'm super stoked. The indo fins extra cant might be too much but hard to say in such crap tiny no shape waves. Sooooo light and lively. It's so light I could have gone smaller/narrower, though for the waves it's for the extra doesn't hurt. Stoooookkkkeeedddd!

Re: Josh Dowling Designs
Hey Beery - that's the idea hey, loads of float for getting you moving on next-to-no wave. With the lightness also, it should be easy to keep it in the steepest bit and stay planing. Like, corky even, god forbid.
The added cant in your yellow fins may indeed be over the top - loads of cant means the fins are already trying to do a turn before you've initiated one, at the expense of drive. In a board that's designed to keep it all loose, you might be better off with the cant as it is set in the plugs.
Hope you get those more shapely lil' ones soon.
This one is off to Nias with Danny next week - The Groove, 6'6 x 20 3/4 JD

Cheers josh. I thought they might cause drag when paddling but it felt fine. I'll keep em for now and see in better waves.
Re: Josh Dowling Designs
Shoulder to head high low tide this morning. Faaaarkk it flies, too fast on a few!. The extra cant of the controller fins made it quite hard on the bigger ones, she just wanted to spin around!. For todays waves a set of standard quad fins would have probably been better. Still, had a ball on it and loving it. 2 surfs in 2 weeks?! 2014 is looking way better than 2013 haha.

Re: Josh Dowling Designs
Hey Beery - You found the limit for hold at about head-high, about as expected with the massive tail area. I'd like to hear how it goes with some big twinnys and tiny rears.
The buddy-with-the-camera has been sorting the photos of the last 4 boards before NY in chronological order, but not yours yet. I pestered him, and he rightly responded - "Don't forget the price Josh" (free)...so here's Legion's new one, the Kilmister - 5'11 x 18 1/2. JD

Re: Josh Dowling Designs
Nah mate, definately indo controllers. They have extra can't in the tabs. Too much for today. Small n fat yeeeeeew, but today was low tide head high and it was too much. I'm going to keep the rear controller fin and use some surfinz front sides. Pretty standard size side fin.
