Hey JD how heavy are one of them compared to a PU board?

I dig the new decal.

Hey Braithy - generally lighter.

You can go light, with around half the glass of a conventional board, and it still wont dent as easily. I have old personal boards at 2kg for 6'6, though I'd only go there by special request these days.

The shaped blank starts out lighter, the resin itself is lighter.

That said, some prefer a little heft. Wingnuts are not stupidly light. But still lighter than a conventional board glassed with the same amount of fibreglass.

The wood ones are a little heavier than d-cell.

Depends what you want it for, and what sort of record you have with thrashing boards previously...

Here's my personal latest - 7' x 21' but pleasantly light. For the clunker dimensions, you would certainly wonder what happened to the rest of the board - 3 oz bottom, 1 x 4 deck with patch inside deck.

It's a word I've never used, but for this one I feel compelled to.

That is sick.

Some other angles on the illness...

I hadn't thought about it actually Josh, but that's true.

Darwin?????? Gawd almighty, I'd rather go surfing in shark infested waters than go into croc territory.

Sharks are rarely actually after humans for dinner, crocs have us on the degustation menu, and we are pretty high up the favourites list,

and they are smart as.

Sharks are dumb as shit and you can fight them off if you are lucky.

If a croc gets wind of you, just say your prayers and swallow your cyanide pill. You ain't coming back.

Single to double concave DECK! Wow. You got high arches?
Does it feel like a Longboard skatey with a concave/scooped deck?

You board looks great Josh!

How can you describe the ride of a widowmaker compared to a quad or thruster?

Quangers has it, basically.

I've had numerous of the double concave decks as well as widowmakers. Written about pages back...

This latest one - going back to go forward - widowmakers have been magic for me. It has to do with moving the sweet-spot further forward. My stance means I don't get so far back over the back fin, so I have brought the back fin to me...

So, loosen it up but avoid what I felt in quads - the drift.

This one's just the biggest one yet. Compensating for all sorts of wicked indulgences, and give me some spark that the HPSB's lack for me at 40yo and 95kg.

First surf at Cape Canaveral (Bells) on Saturday had the good early signs.

Meanwhile, here's Mick's Little Wing - 5'9 x 19 x 2 3/8, going to Newcastle.

This is a big call and yes I may have been influenced by the bro's at Lakemba but that board is fully sick as................mate ! I have said it before and will say it again but Josh is in the elite group of shapers in my very humble opinion.....Stretch Riedel, Hayden Cox, Nev Hyman and Josh....there would be others but these are my chosen wingmen....creative, extremely talented, not affraid to use different techniques or templates.......pushing forward when others are just marking time..I am so fu.cking jealous of their talents.

Why is Nev Hyman in this "Elite" group?

Sometimes I'll swing by Josh's factory and He'll show me what he's working on. His HPSBs are really clean and refined and would not look out of place in a rack of Simons MCs or Webbers. What impressive is his shapes are at that level, but what he's doing process wise is way more complex than what those guys are doing.

I agree Pinhead, Josh explained some of the processes with the construction of my new "Sawnoff". Pretty impressive stuff...

nev is a great shaper .. although most of his boards aren't for me he still is pushing design with his trusty sidekick Dan Mann and that comment is not about construction but design ..anyone who is still designing and building sticks for the pros some 30 years after picking up a planer has got to have some cred .. matt biolos should be on that list too ... my point is josh is a talented guy who can turns dreams , thoughts and ideas into something very tangible and very pleasing
