Re: Josh Dowling Comsand
hmmm you have been lead in to a n endless minefield
josh not being clever but all the early stuff i done the general concences was the fin placement
needed to be running off the face of the channel
but the only way is to glass em on
i have found the rohacell to stiffen things up a bit but have good wear& tear reports
i finished a 4 channel a few weeks back looks to be going great

Hey Huie,
Yes, I saw your 4x4...I had a think about it, no way to get FCS there...
I had a slice of D-cell that happened to be the exact 6 channel width, so...
Anyway, If I did glass-ons, I'd have to shout the glasser and sander TWO six-packs AND a night out at the pole-dancing...

Re: Josh Dowling Comsand
Hmm, methinks its something really new Josh, cos it looks more like a RIDGEbottom than a channel...well to me anyways.
Your opinion is worth as much as it costs.

Awesome Josh - Bet the orders for channels are gonna flood in now. I know I have been staring at the board without blinking for a good 10 minutes.
Let us know how she goes.

Re: Josh Dowling Comsand
Hey Presto!
[attachment=0]tail_channel_depth.jpg[/attachment
Channels- Its deceptive because the down-angle of the channel is not vertical, so they can look deeper.
I like them not-too deep. Under a centimetre. I have had deeper than these. Too deep tends to dictate to me rather than be useful...i.e too stiff.
These are a moderate depth channel, and the fading-out middle channel, not running right out the channel, means its a little looser.
Kelly's thingy - I guess the chunnel has a hole through to the deck. Air would be drawn through to create lift.
I speculate it would be difficult to control. But it is fabulous that a surfer of Kellys calibre now has the time and resources to throw off the shackles of competition and competition-proven board design.
Huie..I saw an article in an old mag, on through-deck vented bottoms. Was it Ted Spencer? McT ?

Re: Josh Dowling Comsand
Hey Huie,
Looked but can't find the stuff...I do remember the boards were mid-length...
There were slots across the bottom, running diagonally through to the deck, the openings bigger on the bottom.
Also mention of a soda substance, another experiment, added to trhe bottom just before a surf. The resulting fizz supposed to create lift...Schweppes bubbles! LOL.

Re: Josh Dowling Comsand
Ta Bohdi...I was nervous about that one, seeing as Simmo bites heads off chickens an' all...
He got it yesterday and txted his stoke, so Relaxo Josho...
I'd like to have another chance at that one, but my perrenial favourite is of course the abstract vagina spray...I've done hundreds of variations! So consider it! LOL...
