I have been to the maldives ( not sure if north or south, i believe it was south ). I did meet a surfer there ( aussie on holidays ) who said they had hosted some sort of pro event in the area. Don't know if he was full of it, but there was definately swell there. As to where, and how good it is, i dont know, although, we passed many resort islands that had waves breaking around the tips of the islands. You would have to have a boat too. But i do remember a bunch of surfers swimming over to our island one night, lookin for chicks hahah, so there must be waves there.

Hope it helps
