If you don't, there isn't much point in having the operation.
You need to see a surgeon tomorrow, Coops.

Is it a full tear?
You've got about 5 days to get it repaired if you want full strength back.

fwiw did mine a year ago, specialist said gotta operate within 14 days..had a trip to indo booked the next week so after weighing it up said no to surgery. arm now is ok but looks weird (not a problem). apparently the muscle underneath the torn one takes the load but I still get major twinges when trying to hold board duckdiving in solid waves. anyway, hope you get a good result.

Thanks mate. I go under the knife on friday. Shoulder specialist said there is urgency is key but not as much as if the bottom tendon is torn.

How long was your recovery?

An ultrasound today (shoulder issue) also confirmed that I tore my bicep about a year ago. Everyone seems to agree they wouldn't have bother operating anyway at my age.
Apart from the initial pain and for a few weeks after, I've had no issues. Just my bicep is a fcuking weird shape.
My shoulder however is another matter.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

At your age you're lucky they didn't have a copy of your DNR.

Seriously, good luck to both of you.

After the doctor asked Tard-G for a urine sample, stool sample and a semen sample, Trev got a little confused. Thankfully his wife was with him at the time and when Tard-G looked towards her with that confused look on his face, she calmly replied "for crying out loud Trevor, just give the man your underpants".

Do you know which tendon is ruptured? There are two at the top that attach the bicep to the shoulder and one at the bottom. Mine was a severed long head tendon at the top.

I go in for a left shoulder arthoscopy and subpectoral bicep tenodesis tomorrow.

4 weeks sling, 8 week no lifting, 3 months total rehab. Doc said the procedure will be a full recovery. Stoked. Im quite an active guy, though. Usually 6 days a week in gym/running &/or surf, so i gotta figure out a new exercise routine that doesnt involve upper body. Might get Carroll on the job.
