Torn bicep?

Post by Kunji » Sat Nov 11, 2017 1:23 pm

Hey gents,

I think i have torn my left bicep. I remember tweaking it doing weighted pull ups. But just got out of the surf and i felt it ping hard coming off during the session.

Its a dull ache but not overly painful. The area where the top of the bicep joins the shoulder muscles does look different, almost like a bit is missing.

What do i do? How long am i out?

Does the tendon pop out of the groove?

Not as yet. I can do reps of pushups with little discomfort. It does definitely look different though.

Does the bicep seem a bit bunched and closer to the elbow?

Go to a doctor Kunji.
A mate has lost the function of both his biceps, they have detached from the upper end which incidentally is way overon the shoulder blades or somewhere there. His biceps now look like Popeye arms, short and wierd looking, as foamy mentioned. Can’t be repaired in his case

Yeh, definitely go see someone. The damage might not be that bad but could also have other issues effecting the mechanics which is causing it to ping.

Go soon.
You don't have long before it can't be reattached, if that's what you need.

The scans confirmed a tear of the bicep. He suggested that i get surgery asap. Thing is i have my wedding in 2 weeks. Couldnt come at a worse time. Booking in to see a shoulder specialist and see what my options are.

As boo said, you've got limited time. Guy at work did it last year and had surgery within a week for that reason. After a certain amount of time it won't grow back onto where it's torn I believe. Wedding in a sling or never getting back full use of the arm ?

Dude at work wasn't that sore either, could still use it but wasn't quite right.

If you don't, there isn't much point in having the operation.
You need to see a surgeon tomorrow, Coops.

Is it a full tear?
You've got about 5 days to get it repaired if you want full strength back.
