Shoulder tear?

Post by Morgan The Moon » Fri Oct 06, 2017 10:55 am

Paddling back out on a small day, and felt my shoulder kind of give. The symptom appears in the pull of the stroke and goes into the pectoral muscle. Essentially I'm unable to weight bear. Extending the arm for the catch is no issue.

I gave it 2 days rest, after I could do my usual duties and not notice it. Took it for a paddle yesterday. Light strokes okay, but as soon as I dug in for a wave it went again. 😩

Has anyone else gone through the same thing. How long were you out of the water for?

Could be pec strain. See how it feels in a push up or if that's too much, simulate a peck deck machine movement against a door frame. Or just across your body.

Pec is involved in the stroke, i.e. pulling arm down, and the tendon is located on the humerus. So sounds plausible.

Cheers buddy, push up is okay, not perfect but can handle body weight.

Thanks Rustt. If it doesn't disappear within a couple of weeks I'll go see a doc or physio and take it from there.
