Hawaii in May

Post by BA » Wed Mar 09, 2016 4:51 pm

Going for a couple of weeks at the end of May. I know, I know, it's out of season, but this is a keep the wife happy holiday, not so much surfing. Planning on a little bit on Oahu, bit on Maui, and bit on the Big Island. Any tourist type stuff advice would be appreciated. Must see and do type shit. Happy to do plenty of walks.

I heard the volcanoes are epic, just to get the ball rolling.

and mai tais at the Hawaiian outrigger at sunset will get the job done.

you might get a sneaky S swell in honolulu in May.

a mate thoroughly recommends swimming out the breakwall at high tide on the southside for all your poo'ing need. he says the swim back in naturally cleans your bum out too.

there's all kinds of hiking out there. rock pools, volcanoes, mountains. just google bushwalking or hiking on Oahu. stacks of sites with locations and what to take etc ...

Volcanoes definitely on the list. Lots of Mai Tai type activity will also be done.

As for the pooing. If that's a thing. I will partake.

Any preferred hire car companies? Seems to be stacks.

Anyone been to Kauai? Booked 4 days there. Looks really pretty. Gonna swim with the manta rays which looks pretty cool.

The Waikiki beach boys are always there to rent you a board so if your wife is otherwise occupied you can sneak in a few waves. It seldom gets totally flat and their mals are so damned large you can even catch a fart-induced bubble on them.
Otherwise Diamond Head Beach and Ala Moana Beach always seem to have waves.

They're so bloody big I could hardly reach out wide enough to paddle. And I've got broad shoulders. :-o

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Carry it 1960s style, just balance it on your head. You can get smaller boards from the beach boys.

It's the paddling not the carrying. Yes there are smaller boards. Just make sure you get one.

Looking forward to hearing how it goes for you Ba.
Me, the missus and our two boys will be going to Kauai for about ten days in August. Reckon the south and east sides will be the best call.

We're staying on the east coast. Apparently the north side has the best beaches and south has the best restaurants etc. so I guess we're based in the middle which is good. I'll give you a full rundown when we get back.
