Just remember, it's called "wet season" for a reason!!!
High odds of TC around that time for sure.

Tonks if it is a surf trip I'd push it into April. Still fukall trades and more chance of surf.
or go in Oct/November.
Personally I don't think any of those Coral Coast waves are worth getting on a plane for.

Re: Fiji - Coral Coast - Off season
I went over in may this year but have been in feb before
I have stayed at hideaway, Fijian and near the beachhouse on separate times and got some waves each time out the front of each of these properties as well as the rivermouth
My pick is the Fijian as it's ok out the front in summer swell and winds (if you luck it.. ) you are 10 mins to the rivermouth, 15 mins to the inside wave at natadola (gets fun when it's huge everywhere else) and in less than in an hour you can be surfing cloudbreak or the other breaks out there

Been told Namoutu booked out rest of year, Tavarua has only 2 weeks left in Nov/Dec.
Where would you stay?

Re: Fiji - Coral Coast - Off season
Coral Coast does sound a bit less crowded. Realise you can get uncrowded days at Cloudbreak, but if both adjacent islands are booked out thats a lot of surfers. Where would you stay on the Coral Coast? Mantanivusi Eco Resort looks goods. Tired of the cat and mouse games of Ments board trips and looking for easier option, 2.5 hrs flying versus 8hrs and an overnight sail.
