Too much snow, you'd be straight lining on black runs.
Even on your waterskis.

I was living in Hakuba in 2001-2 when they had to dig out the lifts with bulldozers and the army was called in to clear the roads.
Never been so happy to have a proper powder board, 30cm at the waist. Still did a lot of swimming and wading.

They didn't do snow reports back then I don't think. Nagano had 2m, to give you some reference.

On Thursday night I walked in the front door on the first floor. By Tuesday morning I had to snowboard out the third floor windows.
For weeks you had to lift your feet on some of the lifts.

That Pacific coast storm is nuts. See the reports from Mammoth?

looks like hefty rescue bill for them.
nozawa had just over 2m in 8 days. myoko 336 in same time including just under 1m in 24hrs.
pics on insty of guys armpit deep and one of a guy looking up all you can see is his face from above.
we had a waist deep day last feb was nuts. super light, just blasting though it. was coming down
at times at about 10cm/hr. every run was freshies!

where you thinking of going? im going over with my daughter next jan, cause I made a deal that when she could ski all of perisher id take her.
so she stepped up lol we going to myoko. suginohara is awesome. looong runs. longest is over 8km. terrain park is about 1km long alone,
endless tabletops, rails, spines, nothing to big, mostly 20-30 footers. akakura onsen is good and right in front of town. cheap accom, discount lift
pass was about $45 with lunch! varied terrain and some good runs for kids. good pockets of trees between runs you can hook through on a pow day as well.

Not sure. Guy at my local snowboard shop goes a few times a year and said he'd give us some info on where he goes. Think it's more north. Said it's really uncrowded. Not full of Aussies. Pretty small town which is fine with us. Not going to party, just want quality uncrowded runs.

Reports are pretty useless this far.
Off the top lifts, one report said south from the peak which would be directly away from the base and pure death in current conditions.

Suspect it was so deep they couldn't actually make it along the ridge to the regular sidecountry location.

Brendo, going to Japan and riding the park is a special kind of batshit.

didn't ride it much, def not on pow days. the one at sugi is next to the 8km run, so why not mix it up and run through it??
we had mixed conditions. one day at happo one was like aus spring. so we rode happo banks for a good few hrs. now that was fun!
but we did have 2 80cm days and a 50. balls deep pow
