I can see you in one of those cranky. Andy Capp style caps. You're not wearing it in the surf are you?
I've got one I bought a couple of years ago at Lithgow Ironfest. Haven't worn it out of the mountains though.

I've got a 20c coin size divot between my shoulder blades from a BCC. Went to the specialist about something else that turned out to be the zipper on my wetsuit rubbing on a mole.

Had a scrape biopsy done on this evil looking thing on my upper arm a week ago.

Results yesterday.

All good.

Benign lichenoid keratosis.

I've had plenty of BCCs and SCCs over the years but this thing looked scary.
Dodged a bullet, again.

I figure one day I won't.

Mate had something cut out of his back last week.

Also benign.

And he's a red-headed Scot.

The missus just had one cut out of her back. I've had one on my back and something called Bowens Disease? on my arm. They scraped that. It wAs apparently low depth but spread out. Hadn't heard of that one.

They were saying in an article about skin cancer in the SMH a while ago that if you got BCCs you had less chance of getting melanoma.

Bowen's disease is SCC.
Must be more than one type though. Apparently slow growing.
The couple of SCCs I've had have developed very quickly. Like within a few months.

Can't find any reference about reduction of risk of melanoma through BCCs.
But this is good info.

Had my annual check up today.
Couple of "barnacles" (solar keratosis).
Nothing to worry about

Giveny history growing up on the Goldie and having plenty of freckles I'm amazed how little problem I've had over the years.

Interesting thing though.
I always prefer to surf early morning. Like from fist light. So full on Sun exposure doesn't happen often these days. Maybe once a week and I always use sunscreen. But I've never found one properly effective. I always end up pink faced. Tried 3 or 4 brands over the years.

Asked the doc about it today and he told me it's just a reaction to the sunscreen..not uncommon apparently and nothing to worry about. The sunscreen is still doing its job.

Freudian slip?
