40th Birthday Suggestions... travel

Postby monkeyman » Sat Mar 06, 2010 11:30 am

Gents (and ladies),

I'm 40 this year and want to go an celebrate with my wife and two kids (under 6) somewhere with culture, quality waves, 5 star quality hotels/villas/bures, consistant waves, warm water, offshore wind, good waves... any suggestions 'cause frankly I've been around the place on a budget and just want somewhere that won't dissappoint... even the maldives would be on the cards if you could stay in a top notch place, hang by the pool and read books and drink beers with 5 star service and surf nice waves out the front.

You only turn 40 once. Although I plan on hanging around that age for the next 5 years since I've felt close for the last 5 years.

Any thoughts?

Lake Conjola

Would suit a 40 year old

I'm more inclined to go the maldives than take the advice of a mullimbimbyite and head down to ulladulla... much as I like it down there!

Thanks guys - Lohi's looks the goods.

Mate if youve got the coin I would be inclined to look at Dhonvelli Village (Pasta Point) instead of Lohi's..

When I went there there was a maximum of 30 surfers allowed on the Island which meant a much higher wave count.(I dont think there is a limit like this at Lohi's and have heard stories about fights breaking out between guys trying to get on the boats down to Sultans)

You are also a lot closer to Sultans, Jails etc. It is more expensive but IMO well worth it..

Serious lock in Pasta Point. Kids and wive will love the pool and massages. Culture...well you have all of the Italians there and Male. Went on my honeymoon and their and was a dream. Nice villas, surf and an older crew means you won't be getting dropped in on every second wave like Indo. Will head back on our 10th Anniversary for sure. Cruisy waves. Limited numbers what else could you want if you have coin to blow.

Child Friendly - 40th Birthday Suggestions... travel

Postby monkeyman » Tue Apr 06, 2010 6:28 am

Have had a look at Maldives and are just not all that impressed with the idea of no culture and little island resorts with euro-trash and the same food over and over and over again...

Considering a villa in Bali instead, but with two small kids I need a place with a pool fence... really after a villa, near surf, with food and potentially a driver and its own pool that is safe for kids! Asking a lot? You'd think not.

Anyone know of anywhere like this???

Thanks

Hello
because you are looking for quality waves and culture and because you traveling with your family,I can suggest Taghazout in Morocco.
The only condition is to go there between octobre and april.
Taghazout is a small fishing village,it offers a large choice of beach and point breaks, suitable for all surfer levels.I'm sure your family will like it.
On the other hand,Moroccan culture is very rich, you will discover many new things, and you will enjoy a good weather and athentic moroccan food.
Check out some of surfing spots from Taghazout:

After all of that I'm going to hang out at Canggu - Bali - in a nice villa with a driver. Works for me because I need a break from my work self (you know that bloke in your head who thinks too much about what's going on in the office?).
