yeah, an arctic bath.. FFS, lucky I didn't wear my boardies! I did the usual run&jump into the surf and ducking under the first wave left me thinking if my head had split open. Unbelievable.

Yeah i know...
I still can;t believe I had to wear a steamer out Longy today in the middle of January on a 30 degree day....
I thought the last few weeks were bad, but this is ridiculous.

Yeah, I'm thinking of foregoing my routine for this week of morning sprint and dive in followed by late afternoon return for micromal waves. Did the first part and contemplating the second but man it was cold this morning. It makes your muscles stiff and I got a cramp. Excuses, excuses.

I had my first surf since getting back from warm QLD waters and after 2 waves I had a earache and was getting pins and needles in my feet. That was yesterday so today I have balked, maybe tomorrow. Sand was bloody hot though.

I hear it'll be a warm winter, but I would of guessed this water temp would follow into a colder winter.
Anyone know what'll happen?

20 at Longy. I think not.
You should have seen how long it took them to move the flags after a pretty strong rip developed this morning.
Still, I can remember many a summer when the water has been equally icy. Hangover turns instantly into ice cream headache.

Well mostly the point of a swim is to cool down, but surfing aint ment to be cool

I did an ocean swim squad training session.
They briefed everyone for hypothermia,
and about half were in wetsuits.
Plenty going for a dip tho - still hot on the sand,
not in for long tho.

Cronulla wasn't too bad today first thing in the morning- the shorey area was cold, but once you got out the back there were these large area of warmer water. Problem was the waves seemed to always break where it was nice and chilly...
A springsuit seemed fine, last week's (?) cold snap was worse IMHO.

I just went swimming on the weekend and it was frikkin cold in boardies. But then you see little skinny kids in loose rashies loving it. Do kids feel the cold like we do?
On sunday i went for a swim off the Point and it wasnt as bad because i got wet all at once, but my neck was really cold. :?
