Newbie - but only to posting

Post by Jorgo » Thu Nov 30, 2006 2:11 pm

After many years reading various forums topics on a daily basis, I've decided to join the fun.
Seems I know many of your names and characters (or maybe not) and indeed do actually know one of your very regular "technical" posters out there in RealSurf land.
I'm on the wrong side of 50 and live and surf on the Gold Coast and Nth NSW for the last 18 years - the first 32, lets say Nth Beaches (Manly and Nth Steyne). Have just returned from an enforced lay off (medical) - but used that time to make 2 boards (9'2 Traditional mal and 6'10" hybrid "egg").

Welcome to the boards. If you have anything remotely interesting to start a thread, please do. Threads like VAGINA in the off topic section are lets say, anticlimatic..

Thanks Ron - and Coops thats given me way too much latitude for so early in my posting life. Remember - I was a virgin until 10 mins ago.

Coops, as I said - I've been reading about it all for years. Like most things - the actually doing is always different to the whispers and the stories. So on that basis, it was painless, easy and I now do have an obscure sense of fulfillment.
Was that what was "promised"??? I think I'll have to try it again to see.

Dae - this "hazing" thing? Thats a weather term right! - its real hazy up here on the Goldie today. There's a bizarre yellowish tinge to the sky since dawn.
On the boards front. Yes at The Alley and Snapper - but its been pretty piss weak up here - though there was enough wall and down the line even at 2 foot to see the merits of my work. I'm really happy with the results and I get two boards for the price of one shop/retail board.

So how far are we on the wrong side o’50 Jawgooh? Not another Bally Boys graduate I hope? Used to spend a bit of time at NthS-Queenscliff stretch in my early days.

Where’s my manners, welcome young man! Hopefully many a tale to tell.

P.S. I like the fact we older blokes put some importance on spelling, writing, punctuation and stuff.

OK - Ric - you've got your Sherlock Holmes "deer stalker" on today I see. 100% hit rate so far. I'm of the Ian - not Neal vintage. And yes, one bench up from yours to the south.
And yes again - I will need help with the board pics as I did email to a few mates and crashed their mail. Any advice Offshore??
