Sun 29 Oct 2006 - "Snooze and you lose" (pics)
Don's report on Sunday at 11.16am
"Looks like I should skip my Sunday sleep-ins. I snooze, I lose."
Hmmm..... something of an understatement Don ....
1
And if you did manage to get up early enough you'd get this all to yourself for a while ....
2
3
Meanwhile a little known Sydney point break looked OK as well .... hardly anyone out
4
.... yeh, right ....

6
There were some reasonable size sets coming through, although the wind got into quite badly by around 9.30am
7
8
I'll try and post more later .....

Yeah looked like it would have been worth being out, just one slight little problem.....
NO ****'EN CAMERA
Maybe, just maybe that could be rectified (in some part) this week
Butts finally finds the camera he's after. Now, the only question that remains is where to find a suitable housing for it .....
Got up at 4.30am( was actually 5.30 - forgot to set clock night before!) and drove 2hrs down the coast with a mate to spot that we thought was going to be firing. It wasn't. Drive around for a hour and half checking all other possible setups to no avail! Bite the bullet and surf onshore closeouts.
Get in to work, grab coffee and decide to checkout RS. See that it was firing five minutes drive from front door with only a handful out.
I hate mondays.

It was the best lid session I've seen in a while. Although I would've liked a bit more light. These were taken very early - there would have been a bit of sun but some morning cloud on the horizon dulled things considerably. Apologies for the 'grainy' feel of some .... some bastard was on the headline shooting with a Canon 400 f/2.8 which is what I want ...
11 - this is two frames after pic #1 - WOTD for me.
12 - no surprise what happen's a few frames after this eh?

Back to the point - it can be a real circus down there on a Sunday morning when nowhere else is working .... There was a surf photographer in the water and more than a few wannabe photogs around the pool - myself included - so not many waves would have gone by without someone stashing the picture away on their hard drive.
15 - this shows why I wanted more light for the earlier session. Crispy.
16 - hard to disguise where this was taken
17 - and same goes for this one
18 - one way out ....

i don't usually mind the noise, but the thing i don't like about sensor noise is how you can see sort of horizontal and vertical lines. (eg in pic 12)
