that's the nth shore these days

ps demonicus, the sand on the beach at Pipe is very soft, which makes it a difficult place to throw a clean effective punch. That's why Kainoa rolled the guy. I don't like violence and will not punch anyone over waves, but ... That little haole boy was very silly to be so disrespectful in such a situation, and I think lucky that Kainoa is basically a nice guy and not as out and out mean as some of the other boys on site.

i cant produce the article or even recall where i read it, but i do have a vague recollection of an article in a mag (stab maybe?) where they actually interviewed (or tried to) interview the bloke

apparently he has some sort of mental problems and has had more than one run in with the wolfpack/volcom house boys before this little incident became infamous

what about the other side of the coin??

would anyones opinion here be different if this was a booger out during the stand-up Pipeline contest and he was crushed??

i gotta hand it to the bloke. He can take a punch to the cranium.Must be the fact that he is a stand up surfer. :D
Personally i think the aggressor had the right "take down" and "hold down" technique but needed more shoulder in the punches and elbows.Perhaps he could of used more knee in the beginning to soften up the rib cage and kidneys.

It kinda looks like a Johnny Knoxville dare if you ask me. Either that or the guys on crack or PCP.

If he played his cards right, started showing respect and trained for a while he could swing the cards around and end up being a bit of a legend.

Or he could end up being a girl

u suck alot! A lid sending a stick in is actually not that hard to understand he probably said "go in" or something along those lines......
just like a surfer would say to a booga..

dumbass

Kainoa is a person, not a "lid". Bigger than you, boogarist, and he's not got a lot of patience for the "booger"-"stand-up" talk war.

 Kianoa McGee is a well renowned hawaiian bodyboarder. I thought you rode a lid man. He also rides DK well and a stick.
 umm... well... i... *shrugs and walks off*

i know shit all bout bodyboarding culture ect. sure i enjoy a good read or vid but dont really care. call it ignorance or kooky but i guess thats the way it is...

ah... i remember now! he is the guy who does some stand up riding aswell and did pretty well in a stand up contest at pipe? is that the one?

I think this item was on RS about a year ago. The guy is retarded (literally not metaphorically) - that probably explains his coming back for more bashings as he didn't understand the situation.

If that's the case, bashing up a known retard is a gutless thing to do when the problem could have been solved be two blokes escorting him out of the water.

It appears from the video that the woman was trying to convince the lid to stop bashing him while all the other wimps on the beach egged him on.

if it was a stick hittin a bodyboarder i'm sure the opinions would be a little bit different.

but yeh, if he was retarded then it's fucked up....
i'm pretty sure he just has mental problems.

u'd have to be pretty silly to be stayin there after you've been told it's contest.

hasn't kainoa won a dk title? or am i foolin myself

yeah i dont really think that was funny.. it was alright for a while there, and then on the sand it was okay for a few punches too.. but he was laying into him pretty farkin hard for quite a while, it wasnt just a few punches while he was on the ground.. he was hitting hard enough to cause serious damage... and you dont really want that on anyone, even farkwits in the surf

I taught Kainoa everything he knows in regards to surf fighting and laying down the law. KK know's this and still has the hide and stupidity to provoke the zen master of war, being myself. It's on KK.

That video shows exactly what is wrong with society today as far as surfing goes (and probably life itself). Yes, the guy shouldn't have gone out and pissed everyone off - and perhaps he should have been "helped" out of the water, but to violently bash him continuosly over waves in the ocean, or even being the smartass that he obviously is makes me sick, not to mention the hordes of sheep that allowed this to continue on the sand.

What a shame.....................................................

firstly the guy wasnt retarded, just a seppo with a ego problem.....it was at the pipe contest a few years back,he was repetatly asked to get out of the contest area,& he contiually refused & showed no respect for anyone.now i dont really support bashing someone for waves either, but what else could you do? sometimes peaple need a good slap to the head to wake up to themselves,he brought it on himself & he deserved it.....

That was a little bit more than "a slap to the head". Why didn't you describe it more accurately? Perhaps you meant to say:
sometimes people need to be crash tacked to the ground, then once pinned down (and presumably no longer a threat) be repeatedly punched in the face and head, until they may need reconstructive surgery, all the while a crowd stands around filming and cheering so self proclaimed internet hard men can satisfy their fetish of seeing other men grapple...
The guy was in the wrong, but the aftermath was no less wrong.
