No more sunny time surfers
No more Tourists
No more weekend warriors
Cold water, big swells, holding in your piss for a wettie warmer.....
Early sessions at the pub

to many to list..... gotta love Autumn/Winter!

Spending $350 on new googles and gloves for the snow. Im just glad it doesn't cost $60 a day to go surfing (well i guess it does if you get a parking ticket).

standing on your favourite point ugh boots on, windy, big and nasty, you know everyone in the water paddle out feeling like a champ, with a crowd watching!
Putting on a cold wet wetsuit on!

I'm right there with ya lb. Always thinking of killer winter days of brushed offshore and bombing sth swells. Then come July it's freezing f**ken cold, the days are about 20 minutes long, the waves close out from the opposite direction and every second bloke you meet just came back from the Mentawais.

16 sec period waves. Standing at the lookout, gusts of wind as cold as ice ruffling my jumper, trackies. The sight of my warm breath exiting my mouth provides me with some entertainment while i ponder whether its makeable. Waves double overhead, heavier than a sumo. If only the tide was a bit higher. I turn around, my mates have made the decision for me. Heater on fan 4 - windows fogged. A sandy, wet wetsuit inside out. I reach into the leg and arms and turn it the right way out, cursing that i didnt hang it out to dry the night before. The walk around where the sand burns your feet. Howling southerly, wondering what in hells blazes am i doing at 6 in the morning in the rain about to rock off.

Upside
No flags
No crowds
Biger waves
No blow ins
Kooks are cool (they're earning their stripes and stay well away from the rest)
Less drop ins (see above 2)
No Blueys (soon I friegen hope)
Downside
Less exposed breasts
No hotdogs
Tourists still come
Gets blown out sometimes
Never confuse ambition with ability

I love autumn. It has to be the best time of year to chase waves. More offshore winds. Usually more swell. Water still warm till july or august :D
The one time of year still hopefully reserved for some decent surfing .........but my son's soccer training has allready started and its March
