Board Designs

Post by stoive » Sat Jan 07, 2006 7:37 pm

hey

i've been thinking of spray painting my old shortboard with a design. what sort of different paints are used? is another layer needed to stop it washing off? Does it have any effect on the board?

Any tips/help would be great

thanks

the other day i was talking about it with a friend, my parents had a friend over who works in a hardware store, he overheard and said that the standard spray paint would affect the fibreglass , making it go all soft and prone to snapping and dings.

Depends if the spray paint is epoxy, enamel or acrylic. Obviously it depends on what you are spraying as well since fibreglass and epoxy don't mix by all reports. Acrylic should be safe on anything but it won't last.
Bodyboard material I really don't have a clue about. Might react with the solvent in the can or the hydrocarbons.

Should have looked at that before posting.
As usual Platty has the informed info.
