newcastle on wednesday the 14th...

Could not believe how good it was from 6:30 till 9:30 that morning. Winds were light offshore and was super clean with about 1-1.5m of long-period swell, but a bit of a wait inbetween sets. Still managed to get some really descent lefthanders at pogos that were carvable all the way into shore. Every 15-20mins or so this 4ft set would just appear out of nowhere and if you wern't watching you'd miss it. After 9:30 the southerly came through very strong and I went home and checked the sydney beaches, which looked like they had been been affected by that southerly change earlier than us.

The pics that were taken on stickybeek that day don't do it justice.
I was thinking to myself the whole time i was in the water "only winter turns it on this nice". Hanging out for saturday morning, N-NW winds predicted but the crowds will be a problem I bet.
